On Wednesday, popstar, and actress Ariana Grande gave a public endorsement of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders for president in 2020.
Grande used her Instagram and Twitter accounts to share two images of her posing with Sanders after one of her concerts. In one image, a black and white photo, Grande can be seen happily hugging the presidential hopeful.
“MY GUY. thank you, Senator Sanders, for coming to my show, making my whole night and for all that you stand for !” Grande wrote on social media. “@headcountorg and i are doing our best to make you proud. we’ve already registered 20k+ young voters at my shows alone. also, i will never smile this hard again promise.”

Bernie Sanders would later share the images on his social media accounts writing, “I want to thank @ArianaGrande for not only being a wonderful entertainer but also for being such an outstanding advocate for social justice. We must all be prepared — like Ariana has shown — to fight for everyone who is struggling. It was great to meet her in Atlanta last night.”

Many Twitter users were quick to uncover an old tweet made by Sanders supporter, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. They shared a tweet in which AOC wrote a “Progressive policies as an Ariana dance party” setlist.
Progressive policies as an Ariana dance party:
👋🏽 thank u, next: Replace for-profit health insurance w/ #MedicareForAll
👩🏾 God is a Woman: Strike the Hyde Amendment
👨🏽🎓 Break Free: Student loan debt forgiveness
🌎 Be Alright: Pass a Green New Deal!

Sanders had previously played off of lyrics that Grande had tweeted back in October. “[B]aby how u feelin,” Grande tweeted.
“Ready to fight for Medicare for All,” Sanders tweeted in response. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who has endorsed Sanders, added to the conversation with a list of songs she suggested could be used to promote progressive policies.

Grande’s endorsement comes at a time when Sanders finds himself falling behind both Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren. Sanders has, however consistently remained ranked in the top tier of candidates running for the Democratic nomination.
Sanders has received the endorsement of three members of the “Squad.” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib have all put their support behind Sanders. The fourth member of the “Squad” of progressive congresswomen, Ayanna Pressley, chose to endorse Sen. Elizabeth Warren who is from her home state.
Back in July, Sanders received the public endorsement of rapper Cardi B who suggested that he should have won the presidential Democratic nomination back in 2016.
