As Donald Trump arrived in Baltimore to address lawmakers at a Republican dinner, he found himself greeted by a giant inflatable rat balloon that bore a strong resemblance to him.
The rat balloon clutched a cellphone and had Trump-like hair and facial features. The balloon was positioned on top of a car with a sticker that read, “Fight Fascism, Stop Trump.”
The Trump rat balloon was placed in view of the Waterfront Marriott, where the president spoke. Throughout the day on Thursday, protesters gathered around the effigy and deployed other visual aids as well. There was a street sign labeled “Barack Obama Avenue” under the actual sign for the street S President Street.
Protesters lined the streets and area parking lots waving signs such as “Trump and the GOP are the real rats” and “Welcome rat king.”

The protest spread across several blocks and the area was patrolled by Secret Service agents as well as Baltimore police officers.
Trump’s history with Baltimore made headlines earlier this year when he attacked Rep. Elijah Cummings and the city itself. Trump referred to Baltimore in tweets as “rat and rodent-infested mess” and claimed it was a city that “no human being would want to live.”
Trump’s comments about Cummings and the city received major backlash from Democrats and state officials. The Baltimore Sun ran a piece about Trump’s statements and referred to Trump as “the most dishonest man to ever occupy the Oval Office.”
“Better to have some vermin living in your neighborhood than to be one,” the newspaper added.
When Rep, Elijah Cummings heard about Trump’s visit to his beloved city he stated that “I hope he has a pleasant visit.”
Cummings stated back in August that he hoped Trump would pay the city a visit, saying, “The president is welcome in our district, to go through the 7th Congressional District, and he will see strong people who get up and they go out to work on the early bus.”
The Baltimore Sun reports that Trump criticized the city toward the end of his speech stating that, “We’re going to fight for the future of cities like Baltimore that have been destroyed by decades of failed and corrupt rule.”
He also called the “great American cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco an embarrassment” at the hands of Democratic officials and said, “Republicans want to rebuild our inner cities and provide a future of limitless opportunity for all Americans.”
Trump left Baltimore Trump immediately left the city and the majority of Baltimore was happy to see him go,
