Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy has a history of inflammatory remarks. Wednesday night may have been her most inflammatory, yet bizzare, comment yet. She said, “you have to wonder” if Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is working for terrorists, criminal cartels, sex traffickers.
Campos-Duffy made the comments during an interview with Fox News. She continued by stating, “We’re looking at someone who basically wants to give you the wish list for terrorists, the wish lists for criminal cartels, and sex traffickers. You have to wonder is she working for them or the American people?”
The reaction came after AOC did an interview with the New York Radio Hour where she suggested she was open to dissolving the Department of Homeland Security.
Ocasio-Cortez’s full quote, which was never mentioned by Campos-Duffy on Fox News, was:
“I think we need to undo a lot of the egregious mistakes that the Bush administration did,” she replied. “I feel like it is a very qualified and supported position, at least in terms of evidence and in terms of being able to make the argument that we never should have created DHS, in the early 2000s.”
The DHS, of course being the branch of the Government established after the September 11th terror attacks on New York in 2001.
Outside of Campos-Duffy’s comments, Fox News came under huge scrutiny from President Donald Trump recently when they reported on polling data that showed multiple Democratic presidential candidates as beating him in the 2020 election. He tweeted:
“Watching @FoxNews weekend anchors is worse than watching low ratings Fake News @CNN, or Lyin’ Brian Williams (remember when he totally fabricated a War Story trying to make himself into a hero, & got fired. A very dishonest journalist!) and the crew of degenerate……
Comcast (NBC/MSNBC) Trump haters, who do whatever Brian & Steve tell them to do. Like CNN, NBC is also way down in the ratings. But @FoxNews, who failed in getting the very BORING Dem debates, is now loading up with Democrats & even using Fake unsourced @nytimes as…
…a “source” of information (ask the Times what they paid for the Boston Globe, & what they sold it for (lost 1.5 Billion Dollars), or their old headquarters building disaster, or their unfunded liability? @FoxNews is changing fast, but they forgot the people who got them there!”
Fox News has a history of odd reporting and this is up there with the strangest. Campos-Duffy was linking this line of thinking by AOC to illegal immigration and the border war the Trump administration is currently waging between the US and Mexico.
Campos-Duffy said that it’s not just immigrants trying to flee poverty stricken Latin American countries, but there are terrorists trying to enter this country through the southern border as well. What Campos-Duffy failed to mention was that happened 2 times in the history of the southern border and both times the parties were caught.
The entire video above is worth a watch/listen. It’s odd, strange, and disturbing that members of Congress that are fiercely Democrat are being attacked and called terrorist sympathizers just for words that likely will never come to fruition. Fox News may not only be losing viewership, they may be losing their minds.
