On Friday, MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski suggested that Barron Trump was not the son of Donald Trump.
Brzezinski made repeated statements about her opinion that Trump may not be Barron’s father and her co-host Joe Scarborough did everything he could to shut her down.
Scarborough told her to “just stop.” “We’ll let the tape play itself, okay?” he asked, referring to a clip of Donald Trump referring to Barron as “Melania’s son.”
“Donald Trump, yesterday, I think it was yesterday at the White House talking about Melania’s son and mumbling the words together,” Scarborough said.
On Thursday, Trump held a press conference on a new ban on vaping and Melania was there with him. He credited Melania for persuading him to move forward with the ban then went on to say that “She’s got a son — together — that is a beautiful, young man.”
Brzezinski interjected: “Maybe it is Melania’s son … well, that’s what he was saying. He was saying it was just her son. That’s not — that’s just what he said.”
Scarborough quickly tried to shift the conversation in another direction and began to discuss former Vice President Joe Biden.
Brzezinski then suggested that maybe Trump forgot Barron’s name and Scarborough told her to stop.
Trump caused issues with Brzezinski around New Year’s Eve when he stated that the MSNBC host was “bleeding badly from a face-lift” when she tried visiting his Florida resort.
Since then, Brzezinski has continually questioned Trump’s mental stability. Back in August, she claimed that Trump seemed to “want” racially-inspired attacks like the mass shooting that occurred in El Paso, Texas.
Brzezinski was not alone in her criticism of Trump calling Barron “Melania’s son.” Comedian Stephen Colbert called Trump’s adding of the word together “nice save, buddy.”
“First lady has got a son—together—it’s a mutual son, of course, I’m very involved with the doings of it, and so is the first lady, who is a lovely mother, together, who I love and know her name so well that I won’t waste your time saying it out loud,” he said, mocking Trump.
“Daily Show” host Trevor Noah also commented on Trump’s statement calling him a worse father than Darth Vader.
“How on Earth does Trump forget that he has a son? He’s like the world’s worst dad,” Noah said, before comparing Trump to Darth Vader. “At least Darth Vader claimed his son. If Trump was the Dark Lord, he would be like, ‘Luke, she is your mother.'”
