A new book written by CNN’s Kate Bennett about Melania Trump has a lot of people talking. The book titled “Free, Melania” hit bookstores this week.
The unauthorized biography provides new details about the life of Melania, someone who has mystified many over the past three years.
In the book, Bennett shares that Donald and Melania Trump do not share a bedroom. Bennett writes that the couple doesn’t even sleep on the same floor. Melania reportedly prefers her own large, private space. She sleeps in the same room that was once occupied by Michelle Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson.
Bennett also addresses Melania’s influence inside the White House. According to the new book, the former model has significant power behind the scenes. Reportedly she shares her opinions on matters political and connected to staffing matters with her husband. Reportedly Melania ousted senior advisor Mira Ricardel without her husband’s consent.
Bennett also writes about Melania’s relationship with Ivanka. Reportedly the relationship between the two women has been contentious since her husband became president. She reveals that Ivanka’s foreign travel is a sore spot with Melania.
“The trips were, according to a source, too close for comfort for Melania, who thought Ivanka was invading her turf.” The two women being at odds has reportedly caused “drama.”
Bennett writes that Melania is seen as one of the most fashionable women in the world, but that she remains “as mysterious as private as she did on her first day on the job,” Many people view Melania as “trapped” in the White House, which has led to a lot of memes and the hashtag #FreeMelania.”
“Mrs. Trump remains a Rorschach test for public perceptions of Mr. Trump’s White House: People tend to see her in what they already believe about the president,” Katie Rogers of The New York Times, Julie Hirschfeld Davis and Maggie Haberman wrote last August. “To conservative supporters of the president, she is a quietly loyal helpmate. To Mr. Trump’s critics, she is an enabler trapped in a gilded case, occasionally breaking out to express a divergent opinion or make a high-profile gaffe before retreating again into silence.”.
Bennett writes that Melania has a strong bond with the 12-member team in the East Wing. She keeps a lean staff list on payroll compared with more than 25 individuals who worked for both Michelle Obama and Laura Bush.
“Free Melania” hit bookstores on Tuesday.
