The right’s next move is to organize a Constitutional Convention among red states in order to radically alter the U.S. Constitution in their favor.
There are two ways to modify the US Constitution according to Article V. An amendment can be proposed by a two-thirds majority of Congress and ratified by three-fourths of the states. The alternative is for two-thirds of American states to convene a constitutional convention, at which time amendments would be passed and ratified.
Under Article V, it takes 34 states to call a convention to amend the Constitution. 19 — including four in 2022 — have passed calls for a convention backed by well-funded conservative group Convention of States, run by ex-Tea Party leader Mark Mecklerhttps://t.co/UCsJR8spCH pic.twitter.com/bf8fpsaKDR

The attempt was promoted by former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), who was ousted from office in 2006 by a margin of about 18 points, according to a Business Insider story. However, that setback does not preclude him from imposing his will on the rest of the nation.
Santorum stated that he and his friends seek to transform the United States into a staunchly conservative country during his speech at the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) policy summit in December 2021.
Believe them when they tell you who they are.
19 states have joined a new right-wing effort to remake the Constitution with their fringe ideas https://t.co/N6rithJA3J— LynneL. (@Lynguist716) August 2, 2022
“You take this grenade and you pull the pin, you’ve got a live piece of ammo in your hands,” Santorum explained in audio captured by the Center for Media and Democracy. “34 states — if every Republican legislator votes for this, we have a constitutional convention.”
In his speech at the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) policy summit in December 2021, Santorum said that he and his friends want to make the United States a strongly conservative nation.
Republicans in 19 states are pushing for a Constitutional Convention to (as one would expect) rewrite the Constitution of the United States of America.
This is yet another Important Thing I and many others were told “was impossible” by Democrats.

“This isn’t an exercise, either. State lawmakers are invited to huddle in Denver starting on Sunday to learn more about the inner workings of a possible constitutional convention at Academy of States 3.0, the third installment of a boot camp preparing state lawmakers ‘in anticipation of an imminent Article V Convention,'” said the report.
The conservatives want to amend the constitution to do away with mandatory national education standards, make it more difficult for any territory to become a state, get rid of many federal environmental regulations, and make it impossible or very difficult for someone like Anthony Fauci to ever work for the government for decades.
“The effort (is being)encouraged by former Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., who was kicked out of office in 2006 by nearly 18 points. But that loss doesn't mean that he can't force his will on the rest of the country.” https://t.co/DN5Es4CUcL

Santorum is one of the backers, but there are others who are ardent MAGA advocates, like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, John Eastman, hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin of the Fox network, and John Eastman.
“It’s the most extraordinary thing in my career that I’ve ever been a part of,” Eastman said in a video published by the convention simulation group. “The process actually works.”
The Republicans have 19 states calling for a convention too re-write the Constitution! This is real, people! https://t.co/M9ZnxKITUS

Before the national conference of the National Conference of State Legislatures, constitutional convention advocates will convene on Sunday.
“The group boldly forecasts that a new constitutional convention could take place in 24 months and quotes former President Barack Obama in emphasizing, ‘You can’t change Washington from the inside,'” said the report.
The GOP as we speak is trying to organize a convention of states for the purpose of amending the Constitution. They have 19 states on board. 15 states to go. And you want me to trust their honor?

These leaders are pushing for it even if it doesn’t happen within the next two years.
