Even though Donald Trump once held one of the top positions in the world, his youngest son Barron still engages in typical teenage rebellion.
Here are some examples of how the six-foot-seven-tall teenager has already demonstrated his independence and willingness to challenge his father at the young age of 16.
1. He hacked into his father’s official White House computer
Donald boasted to the crowd at CPAC in February about his son’s superior technological aptitude and revealed that Barron had even gone onto his computer without his permission.
“I have a young son, Barron. He can make his computer sing,” Donald said. “I turn it off and I lock it, two minutes later, ‘Hi dad how you doing?’ I say, what are you doing. ‘I know how to get it open, dad’.”
This isn’t the first time Donald has praised Barron’s IT prowess.
“My son is here. Ten years old is he. He owns a computer. During a presidential debate with Hillary Clinton in September 2016, he said, “He is so skilled with these computers, it’s astonishing.
2. No love for dad
As he launched his book Betrayal: The Final Act of the Trump Show in November 2021, ABC News contributor Jonathan Karl provided some insight into Donald’s connection with his teenage son Barron.
Karl revealed on CNN’s New Day that Donald compared him to his kid and acted out a discussion between the two when he was the chairman of the White House Correspondents Association: “Do you love your dad? I’m not sure. Though he does. But the kid is too cool.
Karl explained in his book about the 2020 encounter: “Donald Trump, it seemed, was comparing me to his teenage son, Barron, and he was comparing my lack of excitement about his possible appearance at the White House Correspondents Dinner, with his son’s reluctance to say out loud that he loved him.”
3. Barron’s shared his feedback on his dad’s debate with Joe Biden
Barron didn’t appreciate the way his father behaved during a 2020 presidential debate with Joe Biden, Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway claimed in her book Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections.
“People thought I was too belligerent,” Donald admitted in their conversation. “I will say my own son Barron said, ‘Dad, you were too tough. You didn’t have to keep interrupting him.’”
At the time, Barron was just 14 years old. As the then-president repeatedly spoke over the former vice-president of the United States throughout the event, moderator Chris Wallace was compelled to control the commotion.
4. No showing at the White House
Barron’s absence on his family’s final day in the White House may be another indication that he is eager to forge his own identity and distance himself from his parents’ reputations.
Despite the fact that the teenager lived there, he was absent from the public farewell ceremony with siblings Donald Jr., Eric, Ivanka, and Tiffany. Neither did he cross the South Lawn to get on Marine One.
5. The ball is in Barron’s court
Although Melania has compared Barron to a younger version of Donald and claimed he is “all into athletics,” their sports preferences appear to be different. Barron has diverse interests compared to the former president, who enjoys playing golf with his friends and watching American football (a sport he is hesitant to let his son play due to the risk of accidents).

Barron has exhibited an interest in football but hasn’t appeared to develop a relationship with his father through sports, a role Melania has done in public.
