DNC soothsayer James Carville doubled down on a bold claim today. He contends that President Donald Trump will drop out of the presidential race against presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
“I think there is a significant chance he doesn’t run,” he shared with “Morning Joe” Thursday. “This thing is going so poorly. He’s so far back. It doesn’t make much sense for him to run.”
Carville further claimed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and other top Republicans may turn on Trump after Labor Day if he stays in the race. “This is the great ‘Moscow Mitch’ strategy. After Labor Day, we’re going to turn on him. That’s really going to work.”
Several days earlier he had expressed, “There is no chance he’s gonna be reelected. If you just take the events of the last 10 days, obviously he has no control over the virus, he has no control over the tension in the streets … he’s lost control over everything.”
Then declared, “Zero chance he’s gonna be reelected,” and suggesting that perhaps someone close to Trump should break the bad news. “Jared, or somebody, is gonna have to sit down and have a real, like, talk, a real man-to-man, a come-to-Jesus as people used to say, I don’t know what is it. That is, that which can’t continue will not.”
