On Wednesday, Cher took a jab at Donald Trump. The songstress suggested that he would make good on his hyperbolic promise to shoot someone in New York City and get away with it.
Cher has been a vocal Trump critic ever since he took office in 2016. On Wednesday she used Twitter to call Trump’s actions “unprecedented.”
“Tired Of Hearing Ppl Say ‘THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED,’ Every time The’[nut] Job In Chief’ Steps Over a Line That’s NEVER Been Crossed,” she wrote. “SOON The Crazy Fk Will Shoot Someone on 5th Ave,& Say’I Could Have Done this Before,I Just Chose Not To.’ [America],He’s Your [baby],Rock Him.”
Cher was referring to an infamous statement that Trump made back in 2016 while he was on the campaign trail. Trump suggested that he could pull a gun and shoot someone on 5th Avenue in New York City and his base would continue to support him.
Along with her post, Cher shared a Washington Post article titled: “Post-impeachment, Trump declares himself the ‘chief law enforcement officer’ of America.”
The Post put a spotlight on Trump’s decision to grant clemency to 11 individuals who were imprisoned for crimes ranging from drug offenses to white-collar fraud.
Among those that Trump gave clemency was former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Blagojevich was convicted for trying to sell the Senate seat left vacant by Barack Obama’s presidential win in 2008.
Trump also issued pardons for financier Michael Milken, who pleaded guilty for violating U.S. securities laws as well as former San Francisco 49ers owner Edward DeBartolo Jr., who was convicted in 1998 of failing to report a bribe to the former governor of Louisiana.
