During his rally in Colorado Springs, Donald Trump once again attacked teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg. He then went on to whine that he should be honored every year with Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.
“This year I got beaten out by Greta — you know Greta?” Trump told the crowd. “Last year I got beaten out — I’ve won it, but when the world revolves around all of us, we should be chosen,” he arrogantly stated as he twirled his finger in a circle. “I mean, we’ve won it. But we should win it every single year.”
Trump won Person of the Year in 2016. Men who have won the presidency traditionally win the award after their election.
After Trump was announced as Time’s Person of the Year in 2016, Time also announced “The Silence Breakers” and then “The Guardians” refers to journalists across the globe who have faced arrest, persecution and even murder while doing their jobs.
Trump has made it clear that he does not believe in climate change. He has on several occasions verbally attacked Thunberg for her beliefs. Thunberg has received worldwide recognition for the climate change movement that she created among young people across the world.

In 2019, both Thunberg and Trump attended the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Thunberg gave a passionate speech during the event. After her speech, a photographer caught an image of her glaring at Trump as they passed each other at the event.
Thunberg has responded to Trump’s attacks by stating that he is not worth her time or energy. She continues to speak out and work toward convincing international governments to take climate change seriously before it is too late.
