Democrats on Capitol Hill are testing the American people’s patience. This coming as Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) debuted an alternate 1,120-page coronavirus rescue bill after Democrats tanked the Senate proposal on Sunday night.
That revised House bill reportedly includes a long list addressing their pet issues such as: The expansion of wind and solar tax credits. Along with same-day voter registration, early voting, voting by mail and ballot harvesting. Plus requirements for federal and corporate gender and racial diversity data.
In addition, automatic extension of nonimmigrant visas. And restricting colleges from providing information about citizenship status. Beyond that, including money for Planned Parenthood.
A Fox News Report stated:
The NRCC went on to accuse Pelosi of cramming the bill “full of unrelated liberal goodies, including a return of the ‘Obamaphone.'”
…an apparent reference to Title III, Section 301 of Pelosi’s bill, which allocates $1 billion and calls for federal authorities to immediately expand the “emergency lifeline broadband benefit” for every household that contains at least one “qualifying low-income consumer.”
National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spokesman Michael McAdams said in a statement: “People are dying and all Nancy Pelosi and Democrats can focus on is ripping off the American taxpayer to help pay for their liberal wish list of government handouts.”
While GOP Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas told, “Today, 102 Americans died while the Democrats blocked consideration of this bill.” Then declared, “One Texan died while this chamber decided not to show up for work and do their job.”
Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-SD) added, “The country is burning, and your side wants to play political games.” He announced, “It is time to get this done. The American people expect us to act, they need action. We need to get this done for the American people.”
Republican Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa took to Twitter and posted: “Dems are criticizing Trump admin handling of coronavirus but TWICE blocked a bipartisan bill to fund fed govt response They’re holding taxpayers & workers hostage to push unrelated Dem priorities This is a national emergency not a time for politics/partisanship!”
But Pelosi seemed to save her shots for President Donald Trump. “He’s a notion-monger, just tossing out things that have no relationship to a well-coordinated, science-based, government-wide response to this,” she argued. “Thank God for the governors who are taking the lead in their state. Thank God for some of the people in the administration who speak truth to power.”
This political tripe was wearing thin before. Now things are getting personal.
