On Wednesday during an interview with Fox News, Rep. Devin Nunes stated that he now recalls speaking by phone with Rudy Giuliani’s associate Lev Parnas. Both Parnas and Giuliani are involved in the Ukraine scheme that is the center of Donald Trump’s impeachment.
It was just minutes after Lev Parnas told Rachel Maddow that Donald Trump “knew exactly what was going on” with Ukraine that Martha MacCallum of Fox News asked Nunes about phone records that show he spoke to Parnas.
MacCallum noted that Nunes had previously stated that he did not recall ever having a phone conversation with Parnas. He even went as far as to state that he did not recognize the name Parnas.
Parnas told Maddow that he not only had a phone conversation with Nunes, but they had met in person. “He was sitting there and making all these statements and all that when he knew very well that he knew what was going on,” Parnas added. “He knew what was happening. He knows who I am.”
Now, Nunes says that he cannot recall “where he was at the time,” but that he does remember the call with Parnas, which he called “very odd and random.”
Nunes was then asked if he discussed Marie Yovanovitch, the former ambassador to Ukraine, with Parnas and Nunes insisted that the first time he had “heard the name Yovanovitch was not until this impeachment sham started.”

Parnas also released a treasure trove of documents to House Democrats just as Nancy Pelosi passed the articles of impeachment against Trump to the Senate. It is believed Trump’s Senate trial will begin on Tuesday.
Parnas has stated that he wants to testify in the Senate trial, but it is still unclear if witnesses will be called.
