Dominion Voting Systems requested a federal judge to let its defamation lawsuit against Mike Lindell go forward, claiming that the MyPillow CEO’s claims in the case “threaten the rule of law.”

“If allowed to proceed, they would impose liability on innumerable parties engaging in ordinary, day-to-day acts of litigation,” Dominion’s attorneys wrote of Lindell’s counterclaims in the case. “They would deter future litigants from bringing their disputes to court in the first place.”

Dominion filed a $1.3 billion lawsuit against Lindell and MyPillow in February of last year, alleging that they defamed the election technology company by spreading claims about its role in the 2020 election. It’s one of a slew of cases Dominion has brought against election conspiracy theories and media outlets it claims have given them a voice.

Lindell filed a counterclaim in December, alleging that Dominion was involved in an illegal conspiracy to punish him through litigation, and rehashed bogus allegations that the firm tampered with election results in order for then-President Donald Trump to lose the 2020 election.

Dominion’s new motion urges the judge to dismiss Lindell’s complaint, alleging that he has sufficient evidence to suggest Dominion broke the law, and to proceed with the case.

“The proverbial ‘schoolyard bully who can’t take a punch’ is not even the right analogy,” Dominion’s attorneys write. “Lindell and MyPillow are bullies who, after attacking their victim in the schoolyard, claim that the victim is forbidden from going to the nurse to dress his wounds, or to the principal’s office to have them held accountable.”
The motion comes just a week after the case’s parties provided status updates on a discovery timeline. The discovery process has included lawyers representing Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, two Trump-supporting attorneys who are also defendants in Dominion’s defamation claims.

Attorneys for Lindell and MyPillow, on the other hand, have declined to attend meetings, claiming that they should not be required to do so until their petitions to dismiss the case have been exhausted.
Lindell, Giuliani, Powell, and Dominion’s lawyers have all stated that there is no “realistic possibility” that they will settle rather than go to trial.

Lindell recently made headlines when he recruited Emerald Robinson, a former Newsmax White House journalist who was fired by the ultra-conservative cable network for peddling ridiculous COVID-19 conspiracy theories.
The pillow CEO reported that Robinson had been employed by his web-based “Frank Speech” live-streaming business.

Lindell stated, “She’s been recruited as a host of a new program. We’re putting up a fantastic TV network, and she’s a fantastic host!”
Late this year, the ex-Newsmax personality erroneously claimed that the COVID-19 vaccinations include a “bioluminescent marker” with demonic powers. Because of the bogus assertion, her own employer distanced itself from her and subsequently benched the right-wing celebrity.
