Donald Trump Jr made an attempt to defend his father’s loyal ally, Ted Cruz, for flying off to Cancun, Mexico on vacation while Texans struggled to get by without power and heat amid freezing temperatures.
However, in his attempt to defend Cruz he got an important detail wrong when he accused lawmakers of hypocrisy.

Cruz came under fire when it emerged that he had boarded a flight to Cancun, Mexico on Wednesday when his home state was still without power, heat, and water.
While his constituents struggled to survive record cold temperatures, he and his family were soaking up the rays in Mexico.

Trump Jr took to Twitter with a jabbing tweet writing “the hypocrisy of those trying to cancel Ted Cruz,” adding that their silence “on their Democrat Governor’s incompetence is telling.”

It did not take long for social media users to point out that Texas Governor Greg Abbott is a Republican. He was also the chair of the Republican Governor’s Association from 2019 to 2020.

Even Devin Nunes’ cow knew that Abbott was a Republican.

“A desperate attempt by ‘little trump’ to stay relative is lost in the fact that Greg Abbott is a Republican. The Trump name will forever be remembered as the name of insurrection,” tweeted Tim wears a Mask.

User Values Voter tweeted out, “The Governor of Texas is a Republican, sonny. Just like the Governors of Oklahoma and Arkansas. But those states didn’t have their core infrastructure completely melt down. And their Senators didn’t get caught jetting off while their citizens froze in their homes. Try to keep up.”

“Greg Abbott is a Republican, genius. But thank you for confirming that he is, in fact, incompetent,” tweeted TrumpsTaxes.

Stu Hofstetter tweeted, “You moron. Texas hasn’t had a democratic governor in 829 Scaramuccis.”

Hawaii Delilah tweeted, “What “Democrat” governor are you talking about, Fool? Gov Abbott is a Republican. I urge Texans to cancel every Republican in office. Nationally, we cancelled your evil father and the country is better for it.”

“You think anybody told him yet?” another user asked.
Trump Jr’s tweet linked to a video in which he admits to the optics of Cruz’s vacation was not “ideal,” but then goes on to argue that it is not Cruz’s job to manage crises. He added that dealing with any state crisis was the governor’s job.

“Now if I were a Trump — which I am — I’d come up with a nickname for something like this, like, ‘Cancun Cruz’,” Trump Jr stated. “It’s funny, but honestly I can’t get on this bandwagon trying to cancel the guy”
Just one day after mistakenly calling Abbott a Democrat, Trump Jr accused Twitter users of targeting him for his conservative views and spreading “false information.”

He went on to denounce the “selective interpretation” of his tweet defending Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) from criticism for taking a trip to Cancun, Mexico, amid mass power outages and frigid weather in Texas. He referred to Cruz’s trip to Cancun as a “little PR mishap.”
“All of those people who always want to decry misinformation and talking about such don’t seem to have a problem spreading misinformation,” Trump Jr stated on Friday. “I’m trending on Twitter because people seem to be making a reference about a video I posted yesterday, saying if only the people who were so outraged at Ted Cruz for a little PR mishap…. would actually get outraged about their Democrat governors.”

Trump Jr then went on to claim that his tweet trending was “censorship” and “selective interpretation” that is exclusively aimed at conservatives, while offering to “show you the pictures of Greg Abbott and I if you need them” to those who remained doubtful of his relationship with Abbott.
He also blasted Twitter’s “fact checkers” for allowing the misleading information to go viral.
