On Monday, Donald Trump Jr. took a page out of his father’s playbook when he used Twitter to mock Democratic presidential candidate. Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
Trump Jr. made a tweet where he suggested that if Warren could not take the heat she should “get out of the teepee.” Trump Jr’s uncalled for comment was in response to Warren expressing disappointment in Sen. Bernie Sanders’s campaign, which reportedly asked its volunteers to push anti-Warren talking points.
“If @ewarren can’t take the heat she should get out of the teepee!” Trump tweeted. The tweet also referenced false claims that Warren had made in the past about having Native American heritage.
On Sunday, Warren spoke with reporters in Iowa and expressed her “disappointment” in hearing that Sanders’ campaign was focusing on talking points that would discourage voters from giving her their support.
Politico reported that one of the talking points the Sanders’ campaign was going to push was that Warren is “bringing no new bases into the Democratic Party.”
“I was disappointed to hear that Bernie is sending his volunteers out to trash me,” Warren told reporters. “Bernie knows me and has known me for a long time. He knows who I am, where I come from, what I have worked on and fought for.”
She then added: “I hope Bernie reconsiders and turns his campaign in a different direction.”
Warren hits back: “I was disappointed to hear that Bernie is sending his volunteers out to trash me. Bernie knows me and has known me for a long time…I hope bernie reconsiders and turns his campaign in a different direction.” Also notes the “factionalism” caused by 2016 https://t.co/ER0Vm6sgJS pic.twitter.com/N8prZdeZk9

Reportedly the script Sanders’s volunteers are using tells voters that are leaning toward supporting Warren that the “people who support her are highly-educated, more affluent people who are going to show up and vote Democratic no matter what” and adds that “she’s bringing no new bases into the Democratic Party.”
