Donald Trump Jr. used Twitter to suggest that if Americans would practice social distancing the coronavirus would be gone in just two weeks.
Less than three weeks ago, Donald Trump’s oldest son, was stating the coronavirus was only a ploy by Democrats to stop his father from winning the 2020 presidential election. He even went as far as to claim that Democrats hoped that the virus killed millions of Americans so they could politically gain from the health crisis.
“For them to try to take a pandemic and seemingly hope that it comes here, and kills millions of people so that they could end Donald Trump’s streak of winning, is a new level of sickness,” Trump Jr. said during an interview back in late February. “You know, I don’t know if this is coronavirus or Trump derangement syndrome, but these people are infected badly.”
Move forward four weeks and the United States has seen over 150 deaths and has almost destroyed the economy, Trump Jr. now has adjusted his tone and has urged all Americans to stay at home to curb the spread of the virus. He suggested on Twitter that just two weeks of social distancing with stop the virus.
Trump Jr’s change in tone matches that of his father’s. Donald Trump has stopped referring to the coronavirus as a “hoax.” However, health experts have stated that to stop the coronavirus Americans would have to practice social distancing for months or possibly even longer than that.
“Stay home, stay away from others, and as painful as that can be, if we do it for 2 full weeks it will be the most important step, we can take towards beating this virus,” Trump Jr. tweeted.
Twitter users slammed Trump Jr. for his post.
Twitter user Blue Wave Lady tweeted, “You mean the Democratic hoax?”
Twitter user Jim Albertson asked, “t thought it was a hoax?”
“Incubation period is up to 24 days. Two weeks ain’t gonna cut it, Sir,” tweeted Twitter user #LockThemAllUp.
Twitter user Nikki replied. “You said it was just the flu.”
Jimmy from the BX tweeted, “What? I thought it wasn’t all that big a deal though?”
Dan Southard tweeted, “Never Forget.”
Donald Trump Jr. has no medical degree and shouldn’t be making these statements. None of the Trumps should.
