On Friday, Donald Trump Jr. used his Twitter account to slam an article published by MSN. The article criticized his father for pushing a malaria drug that he claims could slow down the spread of the coronavirus because the drug reportedly is deadly if taken at a level more than 2 grams.
The article was published by Bloomberg News with the title “Virus Drug Touted by Trump, Musk Can Kill In Just Two Grams.” The story highlighted decades of dangers associated with the malaria drug chloroquine.
“What’s your point?” Trump Jr. tweeted. “2 grams of caffeine can kill you too, but no one is planning on prescribing that much.”
“This bullshit is why everyone hates and doesn’t trust the media, he added. “They are trying to create fear for clicks with misleading and irrelevant info. You people truly suck!”
Donald Trump has repeatedly shown optimism that malaria drugs could be used to treat the symptoms of the coronavirus that has killed close to 300 Americans and infected tens of thousands more.
“HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine,” the president tweeted Saturday. “The FDA has moved mountains – Thank You! Hopefully, they will BOTH (H works better with A, International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents)…..be put in use IMMEDIATELY. PEOPLE ARE DYING, MOVE FAST, and GOD BLESS EVERYONE! @US_FDA @SteveFDA @CDCgov @DHSgov.”
Trump has received major criticism by the media for his obsession over promoting treating the coronavirus with a malaria drug. Several media outlets accused Trump of ‘pushing a dangerous drug and have urged people not to listen to Trump’s advice.
