On Thursday during a MAGA rally in Minneapolis, Donald Trump launched an unhinged and racist attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar.
Omar is from Minnesota and a refugee from Somalia. During his speech, Trump not only attacked Omar but the state’s Somalia refugee community as well.
“At his rally just now, Trump called me an ‘America-hating socialist’ and a ‘disgrace.’ He shouted xenophobic conspiracy theories about me. He scolded my district for voting for me,” Omar tweeted. “His hate is no match for our movement.”

During the rally inside the Target Center in Minneapolis, Trump smeared Omar as an al-Qaeda sympathizer and an anti-Semite and parroted conspiracy theories spread by a right-wing blogger.
Omar was so certain that Trump would attack her during the rally that she sent out an email to supporters and promised that she would not be deterred from working toward a mote “just and equitable nation.”
“I know Trump will use this rally as an opportunity to attack me,” Omar wrote. “But no Trump smear will ever stop me from working toward what I’m in Congress to do: Pass Medicare For All, raise the minimum wage, repeal the Muslim ban, enact a Green New Deal, and impeach Trump.”
My goodness — Trump is now diving into conspiracy theories about Ilhan Omar's marital status he read on a right-wing blog. Completely unhinged. pic.twitter.com/kjy3qCwK5i

After Trump finished attacking Omar, he began a vicious attack on Minnesota’s Somali refugee community as a whole. And while he attacked the community his supporters cheered.
“Can you imagine being Somali-American and watching this?” asked writer Elad Nehorai. “This is the kind of hate rally seen in authoritarian and fascist countries.”
HuffPost reporter Ryan Reilly stated that “three Trump supporters are currently in federal prison for plotting a terrorist attack to kill Somali refugees.”
“We can’t stop being horrified by things like this. We can’t become numb to them. This is appalling,” tweeted activist Sophie Ellman-Golan. “This is what the GOP is championing. This is the side that people clinging to the veneer of bipartisanship are legitimizing. It’s racist and xenophobic and incites violence.”

The MAGA rally in Minneapolis was Trump’s first since House Democrats announced a formal impeachment inquiry last month.
During the rally, Trump called the impeachment inquiry a “coup” and a “brazen attempt to overthrow our government,
While Trump spread hate inside the Target Center thousands of protesters rallied outside and demanded his impeachment.
