On Tuesday, Donald Trump made up a bizarre claim during a rally in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Without any evidence, Trump told his supporters that protesters in Minnesota and Chicago were throwing cans of Bumble Bee brand tuna and random soups at law enforcement officers.
Trump stated that police brutality protesters were wielding cans of Goya Food and Bumble Bee products.
“They go out and buy tuna fish and soup… they go out and buy Goya because they throw it, they throw it, it’s the perfect weight. Tuna fish, they can really rip it right, and that hits you, it’s true. Bumble Bee brand tuna,” Trump said.
Bumble Bee Tuna responded to Trump’s comments by tweeting, “Eat em. Don’t throw em.”

Earlier in September during a rally Trump had bizarrely stated, “they throw the cans of soup. That’s better than a brick because you can’t throw a brick; it’s too heavy. But a can of soup, you can really put some power into that, right?”
He then added, “And then, when they get caught, they say, ‘No, this is soup for my family.’ They’re so innocent. ‘This is soup for my family.’ It’s incredible. And you have people coming over with bags of soup — big bags of soup. And they lay it on the ground, and the anarchists take it and they start throwing it at our cops, at our police. And if it hits you, that’s worse than a brick because that’s got force. It’s the perfect size. It’s, like, made perfect.”
“And when they get caught, the media says, ‘This is just soup. These people are very, very innocent. They’re innocent people. These are just protesters. Isn’t it wonderful to allow protesting?’ No, there’s — and, by the way, the media knows it better than we do. They know what’s going on. I don’t know what’s wrong with them. They’re doing our country a tremendous disservice — I’ll say that.”
While in Pennsylvania Trump went on to claim that police officers in Chicago were “not allowed to fight back” but had to dodge the alleged cans of tuna and soup.
However, under the Trump administration, federal law enforcement officers have used aggressive and controversial tactics. Law enforcement has dispersed tear gas, peppers spray, flash grenades, and rubber bullets. They also used unmarked vehicles to detain peaceful protesters without any type of explanation.
Trump has made it a habit to use his campaign rallies to spread false and misleading information.
Also, during Tuesday’s rally, Trump called violence against reporters “a beautiful sight.” He also made a racially charged comment about Rep. Ilhan Omar by criticizing the governance of Somalia, which Omar fled as a refuge at age 8. Omar became an American citizen in 2000.
