While Brad Pitt accepted his Oscar for best-supporting actor for his role in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” he got political and clearly the Trump family did not like what he had to say.
On Monday, Eric Trump used Instagram to strike back at Pitt.
Trump posted an image of Pitt receiving his award. On the photo, it stated that Oscar ratings were low. Trump commented, “Probably because Americans don’t like to be preached to by smug elitists. The elegance has been lost and America has tuned these people out of their homes…”
As Pitt accepted his first-ever Oscar for acting, Pitt spoke about the Senate’s acquittal of Donald Trump.
“They told me I only have 45 seconds up here, which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week,” Pitt stated referring to the Senate voting to not allow witnesses in the Senate impeachment proceedings.
Pitt would then joke that Quentin Tarantino could do a feature on the controversial Senate hearings: “I’m thinking maybe Quentin does a movie about it and in the end, the adults do the right thing.”
Backstage Pitt told reporters that he was very serious about what he had stated and he felt compelled to address the issue and shine a much- needed light on it.
“I was really disappointed with that this week,” Pitt told reporters at the Oscars. “When gamesmanship trumps the right thing, it’s a sad thing. And I don’t think we should let it slide. And I’m very serious about that.”
Pitt has not responded to Eric Trump’s comments.
