Famed filmmaker Spike Lee made a disturbing declaration to Variety online this week.
As Lee declared that the U.S. may be moving closer to a civil war. He claimed this could very likely happen with Pres. Donald Trump refusing to leave office.
Lee gave his take after being questioned about the direction this country is heading in. Then made it clear the stage is now set for some serious shenanigans. Lee went on to say:
“This could be a civil war. And we got to come out and vote because this motherf****r is not going to leave, and he’ll say that the vote was invalid or rigged. He’s doing that s— already. He’s laying the groundwork to say the election is bogus.”
In addition, Lee would continue to hammer the president. He pounded Pres. Trump while taking issue with the main message of his campaign. Lee sent quite a message of his own in response:
“Roll back the clock. If it was up to him, I’d be singing, “Let my people go.” I’d be singing Negro spirituals, “Wade in the Water,” all types of stuff. Along with stealing the land from Native Americans and genocide, that’s how this country was built.”
During the summer, he sounded off to CNN‘s Anderson Cooper. Lee let it be known that Trump is to blame for many of the country’s issues. And he warned Trump will not go quietly into the night.
“I pray to God this guy is out November 3rd. Also, I like to bring this up. I think you talked about this, too. I have — I think there’s going to be shenanigans, some skulduggery if he loses, particularly in a close vote, he might not want to leave.”
Plus the award-winning director cautioned of what could be to come. “They say law and order. Later for that. Anderson, are we coming a civil war – the next civil war in the United States of America? I ask you that question.”
To finish Lee added, “I can’t have a restful sleep. I mean, run of black and brown people being murdered, shot down for no other reason because of their skin.” What is going to happen after Election Day? Nobody knows.
