The Los Angeles Times was the first to disclose that Lara Trump, who is wed to former President Donald Trump’s son Eric Trump, is no longer a paid contributor for Fox News as a result of her father-in-2024 law’s declaration.
Lara Trump, who joined Fox News as a contributor last year, will no longer get paid to appear on the network, the network said on Saturday to the Los Angeles Times.

A Fox News spokesman said in a statement sharing, “we appreciate Lara’s valuable contributions across FOX News Media programming.”
The Los Angeles Times reports that her resignation was caused by business policies that prohibit anybody directly involved in or running for office from working for the network.
Reportedly, the network determined that Lara Trump had a close relationship with her father-in-political law’s campaign. She served as the former president’s surrogate and was compensated for her advising services.

According to the publication, she last appeared on Fox News during the week of November 15, when the former president declared his third bid for the presidency. Theoretically, she can still appear as an unpaid contributor.
Such choices have previously been made; Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ paid contributor agreement was ended when she declared her candidacy for governor of Arkansas.

Rupert Murdoch, a media billionaire, owns Fox. The Guardian reports that Murdoch has informed Trump that his media conglomerate will not support his presidential campaign. After the election results were dismal for Republicans, his publications, notably the Wall Street Journal, referred to Trump as a “failure.”
The eldest son of Rupert Murdoch, Lachlan Murdoch, reportedly informed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis that the media conglomerate would support him if he ran against Trump in 2024, according to The Guardian.

Lara Trump made headlines in late September after she criticized New York Attorney General Leticia James for bringing a civil lawsuit against Trump and his enterprises, alleging that he fraudulently increased the value of his properties to enrich himself and his family.
Three of Trump’s adult children, including Lara Trump’s spouse Eric, are also mentioned in the lawsuit. Lara Trump brought up James’ investigation into claims that her husband diverted funds from his cancer charity to his companies during the Fox & Friends interview, suggesting that James’ investigation may have contributed to child fatalities.

“My husband started a charity to raise money for kids at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital,” Trump said. “When he was 22 years old he raised $30 million for the kids of St. Jude, and Leticia James has such vitriol and hatred for anyone with the last name ‘Trump’ that she decided to investigate my husband’s charity despite the fact that it had one of the lowest expense ratios of any private charity in America. And unfortunately, guess who was hurt by that? It wasn’t my husband, it was the kids of St. Jude. Who knows how many kids have died unnecessarily thanks to her investigation and her vitriol and hatred for anyone with the last name ‘Trump.’”

“Unfortunately, this is more of the same. This is political targeting of Donald Trump, of our entire family, and anyone with our last name. Obviously, Letitia James is a deranged individual. …She ran for attorney general, not on getting gangs and violent criminals off the street, not on making sure that drugs weren’t rampant, nor on making New York state a safe place for people to raise their families and for the elderly to live. She ran solely on taking down Donald Trump. That has been her focus. And after investigating my father-in-law, his company, and my entire family for three years and combing through apparently millions of documents, the best she could come up with was no criminal charge, of course, but a civil lawsuit against my father-in-law, my husband, and his siblings. And it’s absolutely outrageous to see this when you have New York crumbling, whenever you see the number of people who are fleeing that state every day because they do not feel it has been a safe place to live. … It’s absolutely disgraceful and disgusting. She is derelict in her duty, as far as I’m concerned, in the office of the attorney general. She’s an embarrassment to herself, of the office, and of the United States of America,” she added.
In announcing the complaint on Wednesday, James claimed that the former president lied about his net worth “to obtain and settle debts, get insurance benefits, and pay lesser taxes” with the assistance of his children and others from the Trump organization.
