There is no doubt that Ivanka Trump is Donald Trump’s favorite child.
She still calls him ‘daddy’ and he often refers to her as ‘honey.’ Their current relationship appears to indicate that their closeness is long-held.
Ivanka was just a teen when her parent’s marriage fell apart because of her father’s affair with Marla Maples.
In his new book, “Disloyal: A Memoir” Michael Cohen writes about the relationships between Donald and Ivana’s three children and their father.
Cohen writes that one lesson Ivanka has learned over the years is that to her father wives are replaceable.
“The truth was that all three kids were starved for their father’s love, abandoned by their egomaniacal dad and humiliated when he openly cheated on their mother,” Cohen writes.
“Now all three are forever trapped in a cycle of seeking his attention.”
It’s not surprising that Ivanka and her siblings were humiliated by their father’s betrayals. Trump has never been concerned with treating his wives properly or caring if they stick around and that goes for Melania as well.
Cohen writes that after his affair with Stormy Daniels became public Trump told him “I can always get another wife…That’s no problem for me. If she wants to go, so be it.”
Melania made the decision not to leave but one must assume that their relationship will never be the same.
It had to be incredibly difficult for Ivanka, Don Jr, and Eric to accept that to their father their mother was simply expendable. Part of the reason they have been starved for their father’s love and attention is that they fear that they are expendable as well.
Though only Ivanka knows exactly how she felt when her father destroyed his marriage to her mother, one must question why today she is her father’s biggest supporter.
Cohen’s book humanizes the Trump children and after reading his story you may find yourself pitying them more than you dislike them.
