Ivanka Trump is facing backlash for sharing a ‘Challenge Accepted’ photo of herself as part of a social media trend. The trend is meant to be “women supporting women.”
On Tuesday, Ivanka used her Instagram to share a black-and-white image of when she was pregnant with her now four-year-old son Theodore.
“’#ChallengeAccepted. Gratitude for the sisterhood — the women who have held me up and pushed me forward! Each day brings countless opportunities, large and small, to spread light and uplift those around us,’ Trump wrote in the caption.
The photo Ivanka Trump shared was taken in 2016 for a Town & Country photoshoot.
Millions of women have shared black and white images of themselves throughout the week using the hashtags #WomenSupportingWomen and #ChallengeAccepted in the name of female empowerment.
Celebrities Reese Witherspoon, Khloe Kardashian, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Aniston, Kelly Rowland, and more have participated in the challenge.
Ivanka’s post was quickly criticized online. It’s hard to appear as if you support women when you remain silent about your father’s repeated disrespect for them. Add that her father has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than a dozen women and Ivanka has remained silent about it all it is easy to see why so many were offended.
This is just the latest example of Ivanka being called out for her “tone-deaf” social media posts.
