Actor Jared Leto spent the last 12 days in the desert at a meditation retreat. The Oscar winner came out of the retreat on Monday to learn about the coronavirus pandemic.
Leto shared his shock with the world by posting to his Instagram.
“Wow. 12 days ago, I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated. No phone, no communication, etc. We had no idea what was happening outside the facility,” Leto wrote.
“Walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that’s been changed forever,” he added. “Mind-blowing — to say the least. I’m getting messages from friends and family all around the globe and catching up on what’s going on. Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all. Stay inside. Stay safe.”
Leto isn’t the first public figure that was completely unaware of the coronavirus pandemic. Producers of the German version of the television series Big Brother recently shared that its current season 14 contestants are unaware of the deadly outbreak of the coronavirus.
So far, the coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 170,000 people and killed more than 6,500. More than 77,000 people have recovered from the virus so far, mostly in China.
Donald Trump announced on Monday that there was a new set of guidelines put in place with the hope of stopping the spread of the coronavirus. The guidelines urge the elderly and those with health issues to isolate themselves and work from home if possible. Trump also urged Americans to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people.
