Just when you think that disgraced televangelist Jim Bakker can’t do or say anything more insane than what he has already said or done…boom…he outdoes himself again.
Bakker is now hawking a product that he claims will “kill” or “deactivate” the coronavirus within 12 hours.
Bakker’s claims are not only dangerous but completely unfounded. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “there is currently no vaccine to protect against 2019-nCoV” and it adds that “there is no specific treatment for 2019-nCoV.”
Even the Federal Trade Commission has issued warnings about claims of miracle cures. “If you see ads touting prevention, treatment, or cure claims for the Coronavirus, ask yourself: if there’s been a medical breakthrough, would you be hearing about it for the first time through an ad or sales pitch?”
Bakker has hosted “Dr. Sherill Sellman” on his program and the duo has been pushing their product “Silver Solution” as an antidote to the coronavirus as well as SARS and HIV. They claim it kills the virus in under 12 hours. The bottles sell for the low price of $80 to $125 for small bottles.
Dr. Sellman’s specialty is listed as ND and not MD, which means she is a naturopathic doctor that does not have a license or degree.
Sellman claims that “it has been proven by the government” that her product can also kill SARS and HIV. Sellman is pushing her product hard but offers no evidence that her product has been tested or that the product can rid an infected individual of any pathogens.
