Kanye West met secretly with Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner as well as his daughter Ivanka last weekend.
West, who has thrown his hat in the presidential race, had been camping with his wife, Kim Kardashian, and their four children, in Colorado when he abruptly flew to Telluride to meet with Kushner and Ivanka Trump the New York Times reported this week.
According to the Times, Kushner and Ivanka had been traveling in Telluride that weekend. West traveled to the meeting alone.
The Times reached out to Kanye for comment on the meeting. He used Twitter to reply.
“I’m willing to do a live interview with the New York Time [sic] about my meeting with Jared where we discussed Claude Anderson’s book PowerNomics,” West tweeted.
PowerNomics is a book about black empowerment.
A Times journalist made a follow-up phone call, but West declined to comment on his meeting with Kushner and his wife. He did, however, express “anger about abortion rates among black women” before stating that he did not “reflexively support Democrats.”
On Wednesday, Donald Trump denied having any connection to West or his 2020 presidential efforts during a press briefing at the White House.
“I like him. He’s always been very nice to me,” Trump stated.
A reporter asked Trump if he was aware of or involved in the efforts to get West’s name on ballots and Trump replied that he knew nothing at all.
“I get along with him very well. I like him. I like his wife,” he added.
West has been fighting an uphill battle to get his name on ballots.
So far, West has managed to get his name on ballots in four states, Colorado, Oklahoma, Vermont, and West Virginia.
The White House declined to comment on the secret meeting. More on this as we have it.
