As a result of her comments that a gun control law might lead to Americans eating dogs, Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert’s video has gone popular on social media.
Boebert, a far-right Republican, remarked on her encounter with 2020 Democratic presidential contender Beto O’Rourke when chatting with Newsmax’s Sebastian Gorka on Monday.
She approached O’Rourke at an event in Aurora, Colorado in September 2019 before Boebert took office after he declared his intention to confiscate people’s AR-15s.
Boebert warned Gorka that if Americans’ access to firearms is restricted, they will start eating dogs, just like the people of Venezuela.
Her remarks follow the House’s narrow 217–213 vote on Friday to ban assault weapons.
The Senate, on the other hand, is not expected to approve it because a filibuster requires 10 Republican votes. Republicans and Democrats both hold a 50/50 majority in the chamber.
Boebert’s video, which has already received over a million views, led to the lawmaker being made fun of on Twitter.
“If the citizenry in America is disarmed, then we are no longer citizens,” Boebert told Gorka, whose suit pocket sported an enormous handkerchief that looked like a crumpled pillowcase. “We are subjects. You know, here in America, we have gourmet treats for puppies. We have these amazing groomers for dogs. Well, in Venezuela, they eat the dogs, and it started because they don’t have firearms. They do not have a way to protect themselves, to defend themselves against a tyrannical government.”

Adam Frisch, the Democratic candidate for the 3rd Congressional District of Colorado, replied to the viral video by pressing Boebert on her remarks.
“The reasoning here is definitely a stretch. If Lauren Boebert agrees to more debates with me, I will ask her to elaborate.” he tweeted.

“Lauren Boebert has mastered GOP talking: string together completely random things her supporters will find awful, eating dogs! restrict guns! Venezuela! and hope they don’t notice that even if those random things weren’t false, there’d be no remote connection between them,” The Atlantic journalist Christopher Orr wrote.

“Make fun of Lauren Boebert all you want, but people still vote for this sh*tshow they like to call a political party, so perhaps she’s not the one and only dummy here,” sports media personality Elika Sadeghi tweeted.

Musician Holly Figueroa O’Reilly also took to social media to mock Boebert. “It’s hard to pick a clear winner for the Dumbest Chucklefuck in Congress Award, but Lauren Boebert is a clear front runner,” she tweeted.
