Looking back, the seeds of impeachment were sown very early in this presidency. As President Donald Trump began to wage virtual war with corporate U.S. media outlets, perhaps most notably CNN. While that network patently got pinched by a Project Veritas expose in trying to shape the narrative last month.
With boss Jeff Zucker quoted as saying, “Let’s just stay very focused on impeachment.” Zucker gives off the impression this vendetta is actually more than business as usual, it is personal. That singled-minded purpose purportedly cast a long shadow over separate but equally significant world events.
Even as the media weren’t entirely clear on exactly what grounds he should be impeached. A problem shared by Schiff and his team as well but didn’t seem to dint their enthusiasm one bit. Much of that media establishment has been accused of acting through an echo chamber. Listening only to similar voices who validate their views. Several of which seem to believe that impeachment is well-warranted. That minus a clearly outlined case actually showing any high crimes were committed.
Fox News‘ Tucker Carlson stated as much on Monday. “Democrats have been talking about impeachment since the very day that Trump was inaugurated, but until recently, no one here in Washington took that idea very seriously.” Adding that, “Suddenly, we had impeachment hearings playing out live on TV. Nobody explained why. Looking back, what exactly happened? Well, part of the answer is that Democrats were simply responding to their own cheerleaders on cable news.”
Another example would be the delirious way Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his report was pushed via this medium. Until the former FBI Director came to Capitol Hill and feebly testified in July falling mostly flat.
In the current issue of Vanity Fair, there is a look at where impeachment falls on a list of priorities with independent voters. Impeachment? came in dead last. Only 37 percent of independents thought it was a priority. By a margin of 3 to 1, independents said that impeachment was more important to politicians and the media than it was to them.
The left wing lustily cheered for U.S. diplomats who recently gave testimony vs. Trump. Yet are missing the point in that none of them got elected. They are in such a position to serve the president and his foreign policy objectives. They are not assigned for cultivating or implementing their own ideas about international affairs.
National news networks also appear to be giving ample air time for House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) so he can further advance his personal and political ambitions.
More impeachment hearings will soon follow as the House Judiciary Committee is expected to launch proceedings Wednesday, December 4th. Major media no doubt will be right in the mix. They should be sure to remember that people are not as dumb as they think.
