It may be hard to believe, but lame-duck President Donald Trump still has a few allies left among Washington lawmakers. One of his newly elected allies within the House says that on January 21, just one day after President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration that she will file articles of abuse against Biden for “abuse of power.”
Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene cited Biden’s alleged family business connections with China and Ukraine, all of which have been investigated and debunked, as the reasons she is filing the articles of impeachment.

“We have to make sure that our leaders are held accountable, we cannot have a president of the United States that is willing to abuse the power of the office of the presidency and be easily bought off by foreign governments … Chinese energy companies, Ukrainian energy companies,” she stated while appearing on Newsmax. “So, on January 21, I will be filing articles of impeachment on Joe Biden.”

Greene made her announcement just hours after the House of Representatives voted to impeach Donald Trump for the second time after he incited a riot at the Capitol, which resulted in five deaths including a Capitol Police officer. During the House impeachment hearings, Greene wore a mask with the word ‘Censored’ on it. She attacked Democrats, saying their own actions had opened the doors to remove them from office.
Greene, who is a freshman lawmaker, tweeted, “75 million Americans are fed up with inaction. It’s time to take a stand. I’m proud to be the voice of Republican voters who have been ignored.”

Greene is only in her first year in office, but she is already a controversial character. She is a believer/supporter of QAnon conspiracy theories and is one of the lawmakers that officials believe may have helped plan the January 6 insurrection.
She made headlines last week when she blamed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the spread of COVID-19 among some members of Congress who hid during the January 6 deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol.

As House members were sheltered in place several Republican members refused to wear masks, as dictated by House rules enacted since the beginning of the pandemic.
House member Pramila Jayapal later posted a tweet stating that she had received a positive COVID-19 test result after being locked down in a secured room where several Republicans. The Republicans not only refused to wear masks they also mocked lawmakers and staffers who did.

A video surfaced online that Showed Greene refusing to take a mask from a colleague while the Capitol was on lockdown.
Greene responding to Jayapal’s tweet and attempted to place the blame on Pelosi.
“Before you point fingers at me or anyone else, you need to talk directly to @SpeakerPelosi about exposing ALL of us to covid when she called back POSITIVE covid House members last week for votes for Speaker,” Greene tweeted.

According to Greene, filing the articles of impeachment against Biden is an attempt to prevent “abusing the power of the office of the Presidency.”
Greene has not announced her exact plans or if other government representatives will be following her lead.
Now that the House of Representatives has impeached Trump, for a second time, it will send the article of impeachment to the Senate for them to begin the process of holding a trial to determine whether to convict Trump and potentially bar him from running for office again.

Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell made the decision that there was no reason to rush the Senate impeachment trial so the hearings will stretch into Biden’s administration.
