Michael Cohen the former personal attorney for Donald Trump thinks the New York probe into potential fraud at the Trump Organization will be what “puts an end” to the business.
In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Wednesday, Cohen, who worked for Trump and served as his fixer and confidante for ten years, offered his opinion on the continuing investigation into the Trump Organization in New York.
Cohen admitted admission to several offenses in 2018, including tax evasion, misappropriation of campaign funds, and bank fraud. He received a three-year prison sentence in December of that same year, and the New York Supreme Court decided to prohibit him from practicing law in February 2019.
The investigation prompted by the $250 million civil case filed by the New York Attorney General against the Trump family, according to Cohen, will “ultimately terminate the Trump Organization — Donald, Don Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Weisselberg, McConney, and the rest of them.”
“This is going to put an end to the entire company,” he added.
Cohen brought up Jeff McConney, Weisselberg’s right-hand man, and Allen Weisselberg, the former chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, who in August admitted to running a payroll tax-dodging plan at the company.
“I’ve been sitting on the mountaintops yelling for three-and-a-half, four years, which is that the Trump Organization is a criminal enterprise and that I got thrown under the bus by dear old Donald,” he said.
One or two of Trump’s children might have to “fall on the sword” for their father, according to Cohen’s theory. James’ lawsuit names Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump, the three eldest children of the president.
Cohen recalled that James gave him a shout-out when she revealed the lawsuit on Wednesday and claimed he thought he was “finally getting recognition” for his involvement in the investigation. James has accused the former president of exaggerating his net worth by billions and is also attempting to prevent the Trumps from doing business in New York.
