How many people hate Donald Trump? The latest polls indicate that at least 46% of Americans have an unfavorable view of the man. This number rises to 55% among people who are registered as Republican or lean towards the Republican party.
Many Republicans therefore dislike Donald Trump and have even come out to say it in public or on social media. In fact, there are so many reasons why Republicans hate Donald Trump that we had to make a whole list just for him!

Why do Republicans hate Donald Trump?
If there is any question as to why Republicans would not support a candidate who seems to contradict everything they believe in, then you have to understand how much they truly despise him. The reason is simple: his name is Donald Trump and he’s an arrogant braggart with no political experience and no respect for anyone but himself and his money.
In short, he’s everything Republicans should hate—except for wealthy people, of course, as we all know by now.

Despite some past antics like smearing Ted Cruz’s wife on Twitter or bragging about his wealth (which isn’t as much as he says it is), people continue to stand behind Trump.
But that doesn’t mean they love him just because he isn’t a democrat. Far from it.

Donald Trump is a Liar
The first reason that Republicans don’t like trump is because he is a liar.
From his tax returns to his plan to destroy ISIS, trump has proven himself to be a horrible leader who cannot be trusted with information of any kind. Much less able to handle any position of power in government.

In order for people (Republican or not) to trust someone, they must know they can believe what that person says. Trump has proven time and time again he cannot do these things, making it clear he should never have been considered as a candidate let alone president.
As many Republicans know, honesty and integrity are crucial aspects of leadership and it seems very unlikely anyone could ever trust him no matter how loudly he yells.

He Hates Women
Trump’s entire campaign for president was fueled by misogyny. From his unapologetic and repeated mistreatment of women to his belief that women who get abortions should be punished, it’s clear that he really hates women and won’t even try to hide it.
Over a dozen women have accused Trump of sexual assault, including Ivanka’s own half-sister, but somehow he still denies all allegations against him.

Instead of accepting accountability for his actions, he consistently undermines and dismisses these women as liars because they won’t stand by his side and offer to lie on his behalf. This kind of pathetic and weak manhood is typical of The Donald.
He Is Unqualified
Back in 2016 when the Republican primary was happening, voters said they were unhappy with their options, but they may still vote for their party’s presumptive nominee, who isn’t getting any support from his party at large.
In fact, most Republicans thought their party should be going in a different direction. Only about a third of Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters (32%) say Trump had the personality and leadership qualities a president should have. More than 6-in-10 (61%) disagreed with that statement.

Even among Republican voters, only about 1-in-4 (24%) said they expected Trump to be a good or very good president, whereas more than 4-in-10 (42%) disagreed. The sentiments held by Republicans on whether or not they thought he would be a good president held true when broken down along ideological lines.
Among conservative Republicans, less than 1-in-5 (17%) believed he would be a good or very good president, whereas more than 4-in-10 (43%) said he wouldn’t be. It was almost universally agreed that Trump was unqualified to be president both before and during his presidency.

He Has No Real Policies
One of Donald Trump’s most talked about policies was his plan to build a wall between Mexico and America, which he always maintained Mexico will pay for. This of course never happened.
But since people want answers to real questions like how much would a wall cost? And how it would work? He had no real answer.

This is a great example of Trump’s deflecting from real issues. His political policies are nothing more than smoke screens in order to get votes and be considered as someone who wants to bring change by talking about controversial issues with no real substance behind them.
Simply put: Republicans hate how Donald Trump can say anything without any facts backing it up, yet people still listen. Democrats hate him for this as well, among many other things.

His Rhetoric is Dangerous and Alienating
Although pundits might characterize his comments as rhetoric, it’s important to note that rhetoric is more than just a pretty turn of phrase. It’s also ideas, values, and beliefs shared by a group of people.
Over time, people begin to associate certain words with certain ideas, values, and beliefs – often taking on far greater importance than just their literal meaning.

For example: consider how we now use words like democracy and freedom as generalized terms without thinking about their actual definition in practice. But what happens when these generalized terms are then used by someone who doesn’t share those same values? What happens is dangerous, alienating rhetoric.
And it’s exactly what Donald Trump brings to his speeches. In fact, you can see examples of it in action, such as his campaign slogan (Make America Great Again), or statements regarding Muslims (e.g., just ban them all).

To a democratic citizen of a free country, these phrases sound innocuous enough – but for most Republicans, they don’t because they evoke different ideas, values, and beliefs.
Ideas associated with authoritarianism, not democracy; values associated with xenophobia and fear mongering; and beliefs associated with racism rather than equality. These are all things that Republicans, in the past, have steered far clear of. But not since Trump came around.

He Doesn’t Represent Our Country Well Abroad
While not everyone in America likes The Donald, and a number of people even thought he was downright dangerous. Foreign leaders aren’t exactly thrilled with The Donald either and many of them laughed at the US when we elected him.
Many world leaders and dignitaries believe that Trump doesn’t represent American values, or at least their values as well.

He has been publicly called out for seeming racist, misogynistic, and xenophobic by some of our closest allies. Given all of these factors, it seems safe to say that many Republicans don’t really love their leader anymore. Especially when foreign countries said, “Welcome back” when Joe Biden was elected.
He Undermines our Democracy
Trump has shown time and again an utter lack of respect for other people and their opinions.
This was on full display in one of his many fights with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, when he said, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”

The same could be said about any number of his debates or interviews. He attacks opponents with verbal vitriol at every turn, even if those opponents are members of his own party who have done nothing but support him throughout his presidency. Not only that, but he stoked the fire of the January 6th insurrection.
This is toxic for our democracy. Some Republicans are even on committees investigating him and his corruption. We depend on leaders to be respectful, stand up for what they believe in and want their supporters to do so as well.
