An ex-Navy SEAL who served as the trigger man during a raid of Osama Biden Laden’s hideout hit back at Pres. Donald Trump Wednesday. That followed the president’s retweet of a post on Twitter which alleged Bin Laden had been kept alive in Iran.
SEAL Team 6 member Robert O’Neill is widely considered to be the one who fired and killed Bin Laden in Operation Neptune Spear. A covert mission raiding his secret compound May, 2011 in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
The operation ordered by then Commander-in-Chief Barack Obama. It is a well-documented effort. While Pres. Trump seemingly threw shade at Obama yesterday in addition to SEALs that risked their lives.
Trump shared a tweet from the account of MAGA ROD that quoted another by Heshmat Alavi on the topic. This allegedly promoting the conspiracy theory that bin Laden’s body double was instead killed.

The story goes that several ex-CIA leaders were part of a conspiracy to hold him in Iran.
As Obama gets credit for the ‘trophy kill’ and supposedly a clandestine financial transaction also occurred with Iran. Sounds more than a bit far fetched.
O’Neill chimed in to give his two cents as well. He took to Twitter and posted:
“Very brave men said [goodbye] to their kids to go kill Osama bin Laden. We were given the order by President Obama. It was not a body double, Thank you Mr. President. Happy birthday @USNavy.”
The raid was nearly doomed. The SEALs lost a helicopter in Pakistan due to mechanical failure. A second stealth chopper was then used to carry out the mission near Islamabad. From Politico:
Trump launched an attack on former Vice President Joe Biden concerning the bin Laden raid. Biden was reportedly skeptical about the idea of a possible raid.
Trump tweeted in September that Biden “opposed the mission to take out Osama bin Laden.” He wrote in a follow-up tweet that, “If it were up to Joe, bin Laden and Soleimani would still be alive,” referencing his decision to kill Iranian paramilitary commander Qassem Soleimani last year.
O’Neill took to CNN to further debunk the false conspiracy theory about the raid. “You are really trampling on the graves of some of the best heroes I have ever personally worked with.”

Savannah Guthrie pressed Trump on Thursday night at his town hall concerning him retweeting conspiracy theories.
Guthrie wasn’t shy about giving Trump questions concerning his habit of tweeting things that spead disinformation, particularly his new retweet that included a conspiracy theory that Joe Biden and Barack Obama masterminded a cover-up that allowed Navy SEAL Team Six to fake the death of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden.
Pres. Trump: “That was a retweet, I’ll put it out there. People can decide for themselves.” @SavannahGuthrie: “I don’t get that. You’re the president. You’re not, like, someone’s crazy uncle who can just retweet whatever.” #TrumpTownHall pic.twitter.com/Im0QFy7VOU

Trump said, “That was a retweet. That was an opinion of somebody and that was a retweet. I’ll put it out there. People can decide for themselves. I don’t take a position.”
“You’re the president,” Guthrie responded. “You’re not someone’s crazy uncle who can retweet whatever.”
