Governor Phil Murphy (D-NJ) just took office after the 2018 midterms, but he is wasting no time and mincing no words when it comes to making sure everyone knows how he feels about turncoat Democrats who have decided to defend Donald Trump during this impeachment process. Gov. Murphy currently has his sights set on Representative Jeff Van Drew (D-NJ), who is reportedly about to switch parties and become a Republican in order to be on Trump’s side as the House of Representatives moves forward with impeachment.
Gov. Murphy called Re. Van Drew “pathetic” for his actions in an interview on MSNBC with Yasmin Vossoughian. Murphy said of the matter:
“I think it’s ridiculous. He put politics over the constitution. He’s trying to be cute instead of being courageous.”
“I think it’s outrageous. this is a guy who is trying to find a path to get re-elected to Congress, not trying to find a path to do the right thing.”
Murphy went on to say:
“I think it’s pathetic. We’ll win that seat back.”
New Jersey is a reasonably liberal state, but depending on which district Rep. Van Drew represents, his seat really could be in danger if he moves too far to the left. However, Gov. Murphy is correct. This lawmaker is just another man worried about political power and upsetting Trump’s cult-like base than he is about doing what is right, decent, lawful, and Constitutional. Trump has been committing crimes from the Oval Office from the moment he took his hand off that Bible, and his sycophant supporters have been all over right-wing talk radio and cable news defending his every lie, his every dangerous action taken, every insane conspiracy theory. Now, we have a Democrat doing the same. Shame on you, Rep. Van Drew. If nothing else, primary this guy from the left and get rid of him.
