A former executive with the Trump Organization opened up about Pres. Donald Trump on Sunday. Ex-Vice President Barbara Res spoke with CNN’s Ana Cabrera and gave some insight into how Trump’s final days in office might play out.
She previously worked closely with Trump for years on his real estate development projects. And revealed how Trump used to get out of trouble in the past — a mix of bargaining skill, bullying & “deal with the devil” level of luck. Some of which likely had been learned from his mentor the notorious New York City attorney Roy Cohn.
“He always had the leverage. He always had the ability to trade something people wanted, and that’s why he was able to be somewhat successful in what he did,” Res declared.
Then added Trump was willing to go after long shots that others thought were “ridiculous” and attempt to win them over, but wouldn’t do it himself, he would use a surrogate. Res argued, “someone like [Rudy] Giuliani to go make a fool of themselves, with the hopes that maybe, maybe a one-millionth chance they could be successful.”
When asked, “If he’s doing it himself now, what does that tell you? If he’s doing it himself, when in the past he’s used other people to do his bidding, if he’s doing it himself, what does that tell you?”
Res replied, “He ran out of people. That’s exactly what it means. He has nobody that will do his bidding on that level for him except a guy like Giuliani. Of course, lawyers who are paid.”
Giuliani has served as leader of the Trump campaign’s legal team. Trump tabbed him to leading efforts in challenging official election results in court. This after two major law firms stopped representing him as a client last month.
Also questioned, “How did Trump get out of financial troubles in the past?” Res claimed, “I don’t know that he has.” As numerous litigants line up for a piece of the president. “He’s always been very lucky in his life. We used to say among our crew that, you know, he had a deal with the devil.”
Along with, “As much as it’s almost impossible to think how he’ll weasel his way out of it, but I think he will. If there were legitimate charges leveled against him or hanging over his head the minute he becomes a citizen, I think he may leave the country. I think he may leave the country before the end of his presidency.”
Barbara A. Res also opened up about Trump and his alleged racism going back several decades in her new book titled “Tower of Lies: What My 18 Years of Working with Donald Trump Reveals about Him” was released on Tuesday, October 20th.
She chronicled, “The seeds of who he is today were planted back when I worked with him. He was able to control others, through lies and exaggeration, with promises of money or jobs, through threats of lawsuits or exposure. He surrounded himself with yes-men, blamed others for his own failures, never took responsibility, and always stole credit.”
Then added, “These tactics are still at work, just deployed at the highest levels of the U.S. government, with all the corruption and chaos that necessarily ensue.” There is clearly evidence of that.
Also Res announced, “bigotry and bias control Donald’s view of the world,” She referred to a pair of incidents where Trump allegedly made some racist remarks about African Americans.
Beyond that Res claimed Trump’s ability to lie “so naturally” that “if you didn’t know the actual facts, he could slip something past you.” Evidently she figured it was time to tell all.
