In March, Genesee County sheriff’s deputies observed a gray Nissan Sentra traveling through Leroy, a small community 30 minutes west of Rochester, New York. Deputies started a traffic stop after seeing the car make an evasive maneuver and fail to signal before making a turn.
A second man only known as “PK” in court filings was the passenger of 24-year-old North Carolina resident Michael Alan Jones.

The deputies discovered “many knives, military surplus equipment, and two compound bows” in the Sentra, which was like a mobile arsenal. PK was seated in the passenger seat with a rucksack on the floorboards that had bolt-cutters sticking out of it. The deputies thought they were looking at burglary equipment since they discovered gloves and pry bars inside. In the car, they also discovered pepper spray and firearms.
The car was towed after the deputies learned it wasn’t registered to Jones when they ran the license plate. Additional gear was discovered during the search of the car, including extra knives, an Army Tactical Combat Casualty guide, an AR-15 weapon, and a 30-round magazine.

Jones had participated in protests against COVID restrictions and the election results in Raleigh, the state capital, and Fayetteville, NC, in tan cargo shorts. In August 2020, Jones also marched with the Proud Boys in a rally inspired by QAnon. Jones participated in two additional Proud Boys marches in support of Trump in Washington, DC on December 12, 2020, and January 5.
On the morning of January 6, Jones marched to the US Capitol with a large group of Proud Boys led by Joe Biggs and Ethan Nordean, who are currently incarcerated and awaiting trial for seditious conspiracy. Both men are currently in jail. Along with Proud Boys Matthew Greene and Dominic Pezzola, who would later smash a window to let the first wave of rioters into the building, Jones joined a pitched battle against police on the West Plaza while wearing the same tan cargo shorts, a heavy black sweater, and a black balaclava.
What reason is there to take the happenstance traffic stop at face value rather than as a result of an informant and using the traffic violation for a backdoor warrantless search?

Later, Jones entered the Capitol through the northwest courtyard side door after removing barricades at the police line on the West Plaza. Later, he was observed lugging out a damaged piece of furniture. Jones was detained by DC Metropolitan police that evening for breaking the curfew.
Federal charges have been brought against dozens of members and associates of the Proud Boys, a street fighting organization known for starting confrontations with left-wing counter-protesters and interfering in local disputes to raise the tensor. Jones, though, is not one of them.

Jones has joined Patriot Front since January 6, a fascist organization with more overt white nationalist ideals than the Proud Boys. Patriot Front, in comparison to the Proud Boys, employs a tighter command structure and prioritizes secrecy while carrying out its primary activities, which include carefully choreographed flash rallies, physical training exercises intended to foster group cohesion, and propaganda campaigns to advance the group’s white supremacist agenda.
Last month, a loose group of antifascist researchers in North Carolina revealed Jones’ status as a Patriot Front member through a dox on Twitter. Using Jones’ hashtag #ScarFaceHoodie, the Twitter accounts @K2theSky, @MasaSpalatin, and @CoryCullington began following his activities at the Capitol as early as March 2021, eventually connecting him to Patriot Front. The assertions of both study teams have been independently verified by Raw Story.

Federal charges have not yet been brought against Jones as a result of his involvement with the Proud Boys and Patriot Front, but the deputies who conducted the traffic stop earlier this year found that the AR-15 and its magazine violated the New York State SAFE Act because of modifications made to the rifle. He was therefore accused of unlawfully possessing a firearm.
Jones experienced tragedy following the DC demonstration. He began to experience severe leg discomfort three hours into the return trip, so Conry dropped him off at a hospital in Wytheville, Virginia. Whether he has stayed involved with Patriot Front since then is unknown.

“I’m not sure if you heard, but Adam NC could be out for a little while,” Conry told Rousseau three days after the national audio chat. “Something weird happened with his health on the way back from Virginia. He had to go to the hospital. Now he says he’s going to do acute rehab and psychical [sic] therapy after a few surgeries. He said he was insured and could have an autoimmune disorder.”
