The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has accused QAnon of being a “conspiracy theory-driven” group and has called them a “domestic extremist threat.” The FBI believes the group will increase more criminal or violent acts leading up to and during the 2020 presidential election.
QAnon began in October 2017 with an anonymous post on a 4chan image board online by an individual who goes by Q. Q has claimed that he or she has a top-security clearance and access to virtual information. Q has also claimed that he has information on the Trump administration and its opponents in the United States and has also claimed he has “Q clearance.”
