Former NYC Mayor and Trump advisor/attorney Rudy Giuliani finds himself up against an increasingly serious federal criminal investigation, and he has turned his victim-hood onto all of Trump’s administration, or as he calls it, “Trumpworld.”

Giuliani claims in a court filing last year that he is being politically persecuted by prosecutors from the Southern District of New York, and so is former President Donald Trump.
Rudy also claims that former Trump admin. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is also part of the ordeal, and also the former U.S. Attorney in Pittsburgh.

An excerpt from the filing reads as follows, protesting a federal raid on Giuliani’s home and electronic devices:
“The SDNY simply chose to treat a distinguished lawyer as if he was the head of a drug cartel or a terrorist, in order to create maximum prejudicial coverage of both Giuliani, and his most well-known client – the former President of the United States.”

Giuliani attorney Bob Costello also lays it on pretty thick in emphasizing Giuliani’s relationship to Trump:
“This is the second time this prosecutor’s office has conducted a search of the office and home of an attorney for President Trump….such high profile and heavily publicized searches such as those of President Trump’s attorneys will just continue to erode and finally extinguish citizen reliance that communications for legal advice are really seriously protected.”

The investigation is not just an attack on himself, Giuliani argues, but rather it is a bid to go after the controversial former President and many people in his administration.
Giuliani also argues that a search on his iCloud account might not have been a “search for the truth” but instead an effort “to trash a well-respected attorney’s reputation particularly as an attorney for President Trump.”

Giuliani claimed that prosecutors kept silent about their investigation’s findings, leaving both “the President and his counsel in the dark for 18 months while Giuliani cooperated with another office of the United States Attorney.”
The reference is to the period from 2018 to 2020 when Giuliani, on Trump’s behalf, tried to coerce the Ukrainian government to create dirt on the Bidens, especially Joe Biden’s son Hunter, to smear the family leading up to the 2020 Presidential election.

Based on how the Trump administration split Giuliani’s “work ” in the smear campaign effort, he now claims he was working in “cooperation with the Pittsburgh US Attorney” and that the investigation is unwarranted as he already went through this with Trump’s Secretary State, Mike Pompeo.
Giuliani’s filing argues that he is a model citizen, noting that he’s been “nothing but cooperative with the Government” on everything related to the Ukraine investigation:

“Giuliani cooperated about matters involving the Ukraine, initially with the State Department in March of 2019 by delivering information and documents on the Ukraine directly to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.”
The filing goes on to argue that if prosecutors wanted information on the case, they should have just gotten it from the Pittsburgh U.S. Attorneys Office:
“It is simply inexplicable why the US Attorney’s office did not either accept the cooperation offered to the Government and materials provided to the Western District of Pennsylvania.”
