Sarah Sanders, Donald Trump’s former White House press secretary, mocked Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Twitter after he stuttered in his response to a question during the Democratic presidential debate.
As the debates, held in Los Angeles, were wrapping up Sanders turned to Twitter to mock Biden for stuttering in his response to a question about whether, in the spirit of the holidays, there was a “candidate on stage to whom the others would ask forgiveness or give a gift.”
“I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I hhhave absolutely no idea what Biden is talking about. #DemDebate,” Sanders tweeted.
In his answer, Biden said Warren, who had earlier spoken about her “personal contact” with supporters when taking selfies with them was not the only candidate taking photos with voters.
Biden stated that he had taken selfies with voters “thousands of times” and added that supporters often “layout their problems.” Biden lost his first wife and daughter in a car accident almost 50 years ago and his oldest son died in 2015 of brain cancer and he says supporters often tell him their stories of loss.
Biden then added that he and his wife, Jill Biden, have a list of people whom they call on a weekly or monthly basis.
Biden had recently spoken out about his history with stuttering.
About ten minutes after posting the mocking tweet Sanders deleted the post. She then posted a follow-up tweet, which she would also delete.
Her second tweet read, “To be clear I was not trying to make fun of anyone with a speech impediment. Simply pointing out I can’t follow much of anything Biden is talking about.”
Biden used Twitter to respond to Sanders saying, “I’ve worked my whole life to overcome a stutter. And it’s my great honor to mentor kids who have experienced the same. It’s called empathy. Look it up.”

Shortly after that, Sanders apologized responding to Biden’s reply by writing, “actually didn’t know that about you and that is commendable. I apologize and should have made my point respectfully.”
