Social media titan Twitter finally put President Donald Trump in check this morning. The president’s preferred channel of communication added fact-check labels to a pair of his tweets for the first time today.
“There is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In-Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent. Mail boxes will be robbed, ballots will be forged & even illegally printed out & fraudulently signed. The Governor of California is sending Ballots to millions of people, anyone. . . . .living in the state, no matter who they are or how they got there, will get one,” he posted.
As well as, “That will be followed up with professionals telling all of these people, many of whom have never even thought of voting before, how, and for whom, to vote. This will be a Rigged Election. No Way!”

Below each of the president’s tweets a link is attached preceded by a circled exclamation point reading: Get the facts about mail-in ballots.
As Breitbart News reports:
Clicking on the link takes Twitter users to a Twitter “moment” (a collection of tweets and links) curated by the company itself and filled with mainstream media articles from CNN, Washington Post, and other outlets calling President Trump a liar.
The top article is a piece from CNN Opinion, calling the President’s claim “unsubstantiated” and claiming that mail-in ballots “very rarely lead to voter fraud.” Yet Breitbart News’ Charlie Spiering has reported, the Trump campaign has substantiated its concerns with mail-in voting, contrary to what the Twitter-backed CNN article claims.
In reply Twitter spokeswoman Katie Rosborough said via email to POLITICO the posts “contain potentially misleading information about voting processes and have been labeled to provide additional context around mail-in ballots.”
The Trump campaign released a statement calling the move evidence of political bias, “We always knew that Silicon Valley would pull out all the stops to obstruct and interfere with President Trump getting his message through to voters,” Trump’s 2020 campaign chief Brad Parscale told.
In addition, “Partnering with the biased fake news media ‘fact checkers’ is only a smoke screen Twitter is using to try to lend their obvious political tactics some false credibility. There are many reasons the Trump campaign pulled all our advertising from Twitter months ago, and their clear political bias is one of them.“ Does Twitter make a valid argument here? Is Trump getting the shaft?
