President Joe Biden, according to ex-Trump adviser Steve Bannon, should have been impeached in November 2022 over his administration’s handling of the US-Mexico border.
“You have stood down ICE and you’ve stood down Border Patrol, and guess what? That’s the impeachment hearing I want to hear,” Bannon stated during January 2022 episode of his War Room: Pandemic podcast.

“You’re going to sit there for day after day and week after week and we’re going to bring the witnesses,” Bannon continued, in an attack that appeared to be aimed at the president. “We’re going to bring the witnesses of what you did to this country and what you did on the southern border.”
During fiscal year 2021, agents captured approximately 2 million people unlawfully crossing the US-Mexico border, according to Customs and Border Protection data. This is up from over 1 million arrests in the calendar year 2019. 2020, of course, being a statistical outlier due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Preserve your documents because, after impeachment, they’re going to put you up on criminal charges. Criminal charges for allowing this country to be invaded by your actions,” Bannon said.
“Acts of commission not acts of omission,” Bannonn asserted. “We’re not going to back down, so write it down. This November is about one thing: it’s impeaching Joe Biden to stop this madness and to stop this illegitimate regime from destroying our nation.”

Bannon was the CEO of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and also served as the former president’s senior advisor and chief White House strategist. He was formally pardoned by Trump after facing fraud charges.
At the time of the podcast, the midterm elections were still 10 months away in November 2022. Of course, Republicans reclaimed control of the House, but failed to take a Senate majority. Their “red wave” turning into nothing more than an abysmal high tide.

Bannon’s comments came just weeks after Republican Sen. Ted Cruz said he believed Biden might be impeached if Republicans were to take control of the House after the midterm elections. They did, but no such impeachment has happened, further showing that Bannon and Cruz spoute their typical here-say and lies.
“Yeah, I do think there’s a chance of that,” Cruz said late December during an episode of “Verdict With Ted Cruz” when pressed on the issue. Of course, there’s no chance as there’s not a leg to stand on and the current Republican led House is more concerned about fighting with each other than getting any actual work done for the American people.

“And whether it’s justified or not, as we talked about when Verdict launched, the Democrats weaponized impeachment. They used it for partisan purposes to go after Trump because they disagreed with him. And one of the real disadvantages of doing that …is the more you weaponize it and turn it into a partisan cudgel, you know, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”
Fact check: Democrats most certainly did not. Trump was, is, and ever shall be corrupt and criminal. Impeachment was never weaponized. It was used appropriately to keep Trump accountable for his actions, or lackthereof.

“That’s not how impeachment is meant to work, but I think the Democrats crossed that line. I think there’ll be enormous pressure on a Republican House to begin impeachment proceedings,” the Texas Republican said.
Cruz, once again, misses the point. That’s exactly how impeachment is supposed to work. Biden has done nothing but try to fix Trump’s mistakes while running the US into the ground. The border is a bi-partisan effort now, something that the Republicans never had as their solution was to build a wall. Which, in fact, Bannon tried to do by fraudulent means by duping Republican followers out of their hard earned money.
