Sen. Ted Cruz has found himself literally in the dog house with social media users. It was not enough of a cruel act for Cruz and his family to fly to Cancun on vacation while millions of Texans struggled to survive without power and heat in subzero temperatures it now appears the Cruz family also abandoned something else.
Reportedly the Cruz’s left their poodle, Snowflake, home alone to fend for herself in the freezing temperatures while they soaked up the sun in Mexico.

Cruz tried to calm down the calls for his resignation the trip created by claiming that he was only escorting his daughter to Cancun who was taking a trip with friends and he was returning the following day.

However, text messages surfaced that were from his wife, Heidi, where she boasted to neighbors about their vacation plans. Her texts show the entire family, including her husband planned on staying in Cancun until Sunday.

Michael Hardy, a reporter for New York magazine’s Intelligencer paid a visit to Cruz’s Texas home where he saw a white dog peering out at him through the glass on the front door. Hardy asked a man he spotted getting out of a vehicle if this was Sen. Cruz’s home. The man identified himself as a security guard and confirmed the home did belong to the Cruz family.
When he asked the security guard who was keeping an eye on the dog, he stated that he was.
“Just drove by Ted Cruz’s house in Houston. His lights are off but a neighbor told me the block got its power back last night. Also, Ted appears to have left behind the family poodle,” Hardy wrote.

Hardy’s post created an angry response from social media users.
“Tell me they really didn’t leave that dog home alone,” one person wrote.
“The dude went to Cancun and left a little white poodle named Snowflake in a house without heat. And that’s the guy Texas chose over @BetoORourke. Something’s not right in the Lone Star State,” tweeted Ken Olin.

Nick Candlestick tweeted, “Every single human, at one time or another, has disliked or disagreed with him. But today, on behalf of snowflakes everywhere, the world is officially united in contempt for Ted Cruz.”

“Sure, New York congresswoman AOC may have raised a million dollars to help Texas residents during this crisis, but Texas Senator Ted Cruz also did a lot of things! He ran away to Mexico, lied about the trip, blamed his pre-teen daughters, AND abandoned his dog Snowflake,” tweeted Steve Hoffstetter.

Frank Meadows tweeted, Now Texans get it. They are all Snowflake now…#FreeSnowflake.”

Twitter user Old Blue Masks Up tweeted, “Some people say that Snowflake, wondering why #CancunCruz left him in the cold, may appeal to Champ & Major for asylum ….”

“Did Ted Cruz think Snowflake should just pull herself up by her boot straps and figure it out when he left her in the ‘FREEZING’ house for the week? @SenTedCruz,” tweeted Hamish Mitchell.

Jimmy Kimmel tweeted “Ted Cruz’s dog prefers its previous owners.”

Liberal Texas tweeted, “1. As if we needed more proof that #CancunCruz is an ass, he left Snowflake at home with the freezing temps. 2. #CancunCruz‘s dog is named Snowflake.”

Roger M Richards tweeted, “The Cruz family poodle, Snowflake, left behind in a dark, cold house in Houston, greets Ted on his return from Cancun. #TedCruz #TedFled“

Some Twitter users tagged the ASPCA and PETA, in their posts.
Cruz, who cut short his trip to Mexico and returned Thursday, told reporters that the trip was “obviously a mistake and in hindsight, I wouldn’t have done it.”
