At the Texas GOP convention, Ted Cruz, a senator from Texas, was approached and labeled a coward and a globalist who doesn’t love America.
The George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston hosted the convention last week, from June 16 to June 18, but it’s unclear from the video what day the confrontation occurred.
The heckler drew attention to Cruz’s visit to Mexico after a winter storm that cut off water and electricity to millions of people, his backing for Ukraine’s conflict with Russia, and his friendship with former President Donald Trump.
Almost 1 million people have watched a video of the man addressing Cruz on social media since it first went viral.
Alex Stein, a comedian and prominent figure on social media, posted the video with the description “Calling Out Ted ‘Cancun’ Cruz for being a globalist and selling out America” to his different social media platforms. More than 170,000 people have watched the video on Stein’s Twitter, 85,000 on Instagram, and 55,000 on his YouTube channel.
“Ted Cruz gets heckled and harassed by a right-winger at Texas State GOP Convention, who calls him a coward and a globalist, asks him how he can like Trump after he called his wife ugly, then finished with Cancun,” Filipkowski wrote as he shared the video.

“Remember how Trump made fun of your wife and you went and became best friends with Trump, why do you do that?” Stein said as he approached Cruz who was sitting at a table in the convention hall.
“You go and become best friends with Trump after he makes fun of you and your wife, why do you do that?”
Trump disparaged Heidi Cruz’s appearance and likened her to his ex-model wife Melania Trump in a tweet prior to the 2016 election.
This followed a Cruz advertisement that attacked his adversary by using an outdated modeling shot of Melania Trump.
“It is because you are a coward, I do love America, you don’t,” Stein continued.
“You care more about the border between Ukraine and Russia than you do about the border between Texas and Mexico, why is that?”
Cruz issued a statement in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine endorsing Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and harshly denouncing Putin for his attack on the nation.
Stein continued to yell back at Cruz before being led away by a group of guys.
“You are a globalist, you know it, Ted, you are a globalist. You know that bud, that is why you are a coward and a liar.
“You know that and I know that, that’s why you are afraid to stand up. When people were freezing and dying you were in Mexico, do you remember that?
“Remember when you had the all-inclusive buffet while people were freezing. Do you remember that Ted? When everyone was freezing and people were dying.”
This remark was made in reference to the criticism that Cruz faced following the winter storm of 2021 that caused blackouts and burst water lines.
According to a BBC story, Cruz claimed that he arranged the vacation for his children out of a desire to be a good father but that he afterward changed his mind since it “didn’t feel right.”
According to Stein, he addressed Cruz because “I felt a big deal of resentment that Ted Cruz would go on a Cancun vacation while the large chunk of his state was suffering,” according to Newsweek.
Stein continued, “I also want to point out that Ted Cruz has done nothing to solve the issues at our southern border with Texas and Mexico.
