In a vote over the weekend, the Texas Republican Party declared that President Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election was fraudulent and urged other Republicans to “ensure election integrity” during the midterm races in November.
“We reject the certified results of the 2020 Presidential election,” a statement released on Monday by the Texas GOP said, calling Biden an “acting President” who was “not legitimately elected by the people of the United States.”

According to the statement, the motion intended to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the election result was “overwhelmingly passed” by the approximately 5,000 Texas GOP delegates.
“We believe that the 2020 election violated Article 1 and 2 of the US Constitution, that various secretaries of state illegally circumvented their state legislatures in conducting their elections in multiple ways, including by allowing ballots to be received after November 3, 2020,” the party said in its statement.

The statement erroneously asserted that “serious electoral fraud” in important metropolises tainted outcomes in several states, giving Vice President Joe Biden the advantage over President Donald Trump.
The GOP officials urged voters to “bring your friends and family, volunteer for your local Republicans, and overwhelm any conceivable fraud” before the November elections.
“Texas Republicans rightly have no faith in the 2020 election results and we don’t care how many times the elites tell us we have to,” Matt Rinaldi, the chair of the Texas Republican Party, also said in the statement.

In the year and a half since Trump was ousted, unproven allegations of voting fraud and rumors regarding the legitimacy of Biden’s victory have haunted the legacy of the 2020 election.

Republicans in the months following Biden’s victory used the allegations to propel hundreds of lawsuits around the nation, alleging improper ballot counting and attempting to halt the certification of election results. Finally, every lawsuit was unsuccessful.

The January 6, 2021 uprising is being investigated by lawmakers on Capitol Hill, who have recently presided over a number of hearings that have generally disproved theories of voter fraud.

Senior Republicans have expressed discomfort with the hostility that preceded the event during the hearings, while others have openly discussed embracing the idea that attempts to use the judicial system to change the election results were futile.
At its convention this past weekend, the Texas GOP approved additional viewpoints as part of its platform, including anti-LGBTQ ideology that labels homosexuality as an “abnormal lifestyle choice.” The party opposes criminal and civil punishments for individuals who are against homosexuality because of “faith, conviction, or belief in traditional values” as part of its endorsement of the new platform.
