The White House gift shop is now selling COVID-19 commemorative coins for $100. The coins are emblazoned with the phrases “World vs The Unseen Enemy” and “Everyday HEROES Suited Up.”
Reportedly the proceeds from coin sales will be donated to hospitals. The White House’s sales pitch did not impress social media users who blasted the administration for its “crassness.”
Here’s a look at Twitter’s response.
“Everyday heroes suited up“, in garbage bags cause of no PPE. @realDonaldTrump,” tweeted Twitter user Merrie.
Twitter user oflairkjs tweeted, “Trump doesn’t know any heroes but he is well acquainted with liars and degenerates.”
Brooks Boyd tweeted, “t’s almost like a part time reality show host and full time grifter was President.”
“If true… sounds like an Ivanka idea for sure,” tweeted Robin.
Hermione tweeted, “Just like his “charities”, there is no way these $’s are getting to any hospitals. I’ll bet bank on it.”
Grizzly Adams tweeted, “Wonder if they are made in China like all Trump merch.”
“Anyone else feel like this is some twisted episode of Black Mirror?,” tweeted Guillotine 2020.
“WTH, whose not so brilliant idea was this? Making commemorative coins while Americans are still dying!” tweeted Twitter user PDR.
I don't think I could despise these people anymore than I already do😒 pic.twitter.com/TEweqX6Zmx
