In the wake of Associate Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, the partisan politics got cranked up to high gear.
Shortly after Pres. Donald Trump made his intentions clear to fill the vacancy ahead of Election Day.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sent a message to Trump following that with a powerful statement of her own. As Pelosi expressed to ABC Host George Stephanopoulos on Sunday.
She warned that if Trump moved forward with plans to replace Ginsburg, a new round of impeachment efforts would be under consideration. This surely did not sit well with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
Today Rep. McCarthy took aim at Pelosi and punched back landing some power shots. The leading House Republican then threatened to introduce a motion to oust Pelosi. He announced to reporters earlier in the day:
“I will make you this one promise, listening to the speaker on television this weekend, if she tries to move for an impeachment based upon the president following the Constitution, I think there will be a move on the floor to no longer have the question of her being Speaker. She may think she has a quiver — we do too,”
McCarthy has largely managed to stay above the fray during Pelosi’s prior push to impeach. But apparently the idea of another done as a preventative political measure was too much. He left no doubt House Republicans will not play her game this time.
He added, “If Pelosi and House Democrats try to impeach the president, “we will take the movement to remove her from speakership,” The Speaker had not replied to his threat as of yet.
This development coming as GOP members in the lower chamber have looked at different options to remove Pelosi from her post. House Freedom Caucus chair Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) behind a recent movement to drive her out.
Not The First Time Pelosi Was Asked To Be Removed
Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, Andy Biggs (R-AZ), previously called for Nancy Pelosi’s removal in a Fox News op-ed.
This was coming hot on the heels of Pelosi’s salon controversy where she received a hair cut from a salon without wearing a mask.
Frankly, it a narcissistic, authoritarian view. That Pelosi is willing to crush the business of a single, working mom, by blaming her for her own bad judgment, calls to mind Soviet leaders who made sure they had all of their wants met—plenty to eat, dachas on the lakes — while the rest of society went wanting.
The Speaker is willing to show her power against the powerless, who have been shut down by command of the local tyrants for months. It is hubris to believe sincerely that you are always a special case, as Speaker Pelosi seems to believe.
Quite frankly, Biggs’ request is a bit of lunacy. However, the other side of it is quite founded. If Pelosi impeaches Trump again, the GOP could have a field day. Only time will tell if this all plays out the way McCarthy thinks it will.
