On Tuesday, Donald Trump used Twitter to spread a conspiracy theory that alleges that Osama Bin Laden is still alive and well and that former President Barack Obama and Joe Biden “may have had Seal Team 6 killed.”
The tweet that Trump retweeted read, “Hiden Biden and Obama may have had Seal Team 6 killed! EXPLOSIVE: CIA Whistleblower Exposes Biden’s Alleged Role with the Deaths of Seal Team- Claims to have Documented Proof. RETWEET!!!”
Trump quickly came under fire for sharing the unfounded and bizarre conspiracy theory that argues that al-Qaeda terrorist Osama Bin Laden was kept as a “trophy kill” by the Barack Obama administration to help boost his re-election hopes with one eye on the 2012 ballot.
The conspiracy theory also alleges that Bin Laden’s death was faked using a body double.
The tweet was linked to an article written by Kari Donovan, who identifies as an “ex-Community Organizer” who is now “a Homeschool Mom in North Carolina.”
Her tweet was then pushed a QAnon account, Oscar the Midnight Rider 1111. That account appears to have been banned on Twitter shortly after Trump retweeted the account. The retweet has also been removed from Trump’s Twitter page.
On Tuesday night, Trump retweeted the conspiracy theory again this time sharing a tweet from a separate QAnon-linked account that linked to a video of conservative personality, Nick No, claiming Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden colluded with Iran to have Bin Laden transferred to Pakistan for “Obama’s trophy kill…right before his re-election.”
Joe Biden’s campaign hit back at Trump’s retweet of the conspiracy theory calling Trump unhinged. “Donald Trump retweeted a conspiracy theory that President Obama & VP Biden killed Seal Team 6, and now he’s retweeting one that the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden was staged. He is seriously unhinged.”
Former Navy Seal, Robert O’Neill, who claims he is the Seal that killed Bin Laden blasted Trump on Twitter.
“Very brave men said goodby to their kids to go kill Osama bin Laden. We were given the order by President Obama. It was not a body double. Thank you, Mr. President. Happy birthday.”
