During a press briefing on Wednesday, Donald Trump doubled down on his support of a controversial doctor, Stella Immanuel. Immanuel claims to have successfully treated hundreds of COVID-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine.
Dr. Immanuel has made several bizarre medical claims. She has stated that several medications are created with alien DNA. She also believes that the government is creating a vaccine to keep people from being religious. Immanuel says that many Americans have health problems because they have sex with demons and witches in their dreams and that many government officials are actually “reptilians.”
“I can tell you this: She was on the air, along with many other doctors —they were big fans of hydroxychloroquine, and I thought she was very impressive,” Trump told reporters.
“I don’t know which country she comes from. But she said that she’s had tremendous success with hundreds of different patients. And I thought her voice was an important voice. But I know nothing about her,” Trump added.
During her speech that is now a viral video thanks to being shared by Trump and his son Don Jr., Immanuel said, “nobody needs to get sick. This virus has a cure.”
Health experts and the FDA have warned that hydroxychloroquine is ineffective against the coronavirus and that it could cause severe side effects.
Dr. Immanuel has also made videos to spread homophobic and anti-transgender views.
“How long are we going to allow the enemy to take over our beloved nation. How long are we going to allow the gay agenda, secular humanism, Illuminati and the demonic New World Order to destroy our homes, families, and the social fiber of America,” A caption for one of her videos read.
Trump retweeted Immanuel’s speech about Covid-19 with the caption “fearless warrior for the truth.” Donald Trump Jr’s Twitter was temporarily suspended for sharing the video because it shared “misinformation.”
