On Sunday, Donald Trump shared a tweet that called for Dr. Anthony Fauci to be fired after the infectious disease specialist made an appearance on CNN.
The tweet that Trump shared was made by DeAnna Lorraine, who is a former GOP candidate for Congress. Her tweet included the hashtag #FireFauci.
Dr. Fauci appeared on CNN where he stated that more lives could have been saved had the Trump administration responded to the coronavirus sooner.
“Sorry Fake News, it’s all on tape,” Trump tweeted. He went on to claim that his travel ban was the action needed to stem the virus. “I banned China long before people spoke up.”
Dr. Fauci told CNN’s Jake Tapper that, “you know, Jake, as I have said many times, we look at it from a pure health standpoint. We make a recommendation. Often, the recommendation is taken. Sometimes it’s not. But we — it is what it is. We are where we are right now.”
“Fauci is now saying that had Trump listened to the medical experts earlier he could’ve saved more lives,” Lorraine wrote in her tweet.
“Fauci was telling people on February 29th that there was nothing to worry about and it posed no threat to the US public at large,” Loraine added. “Time to #FireFauci.”
Since Dr. Fauci has spoken out against Trump’s actions he may face being ousted. Americans should hope that Fauci remains on the task force because he is the only voice of reason it offers.
