A media-driven war of words turned foul Wednesday on Twitter. As tv actress Alyssa Milano bashed President Donald Trump after a tweet he posted earlier in the day.
The president writing that: “I always treated the Chinese Virus very seriously, and have done a very good job from the beginning, including my very early decision to close the “borders” from China – against the wishes of almost all. Many lives were saved. The Fake News new narrative is disgraceful and false!”
“Because it comes from China,” Trump said when asked why he continued using the term. “That’s why.” Plus he added, “I want to be accurate.” In defense of his decision Trump stated earlier this week, “I didn’t appreciate the fact that China was saying our military gave it to them. Our military did not give it to anybody.”
When asked by a reporter if he thinks the term “Chinese virus” creates a stigma on Chinese people, the president replied: “I think saying our military gave it to them creates a stigma.”
Though today he took things a step further, “If people would have known about it, it could have been stopped in place. It could have been stopped right where it came from: China. If we would have known about it but now the whole world almost is inflicted with this horrible virus and it’s too bad because we never had an economy as good as the economy we had a few weeks ago. But we’ll be back,” he told. “Certainly the world is paying a very big price for what they [China] did.”
The Washington Examiner also reported:
Milano is best known as a 1980s and ‘90s starlet, who took the spotlight in shows such as Who’s the Boss? and Melrose Place. In recent years, she has become a vocal political activist and was especially vocal as a #MeToo advocate during Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings.
Sounds like there is more than just a difference of opinion here.
